We had a fantastic day at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, exploring the latest pieces by artists from all over the world. The opportunity to meet Ai-Da, the world’s first ultra-realistic humanoid artificial intelligence (AI) robot artist, was incredible. We watched as she slowly drew a representational drawing of the mythological God Hydra.
We also got to interact with its AI function as it answered our questions. We asked about the robots favourite artists, colours and even works of art, eventually being brave enough to ask “will you take over the world?”, which was promptly answered with an insightful warning about the dangers of AI if placed in the wrong hands. Exhibition-wise, the art served as an exceptional reflection of the deeper meaning behind unity, as they encapsulated the diverse and multicultural aspect of the UAE. The tour gave us a lot to think about, spanning from the expression of different perspectives to the limitless possibilities of the visual arts.

Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
