I was born and raised in a small village in County Wexford on the south-east coast of Ireland. Wexford is a picturesque county that is steeped in medieval history and home to the longest beach in Ireland. We are also famous for our strawberries and are nicknamed the sunny south east!

Growing up I always enjoyed going to school. My love and passion for mathematics was ignited once I started secondary school and I knew from very early on that wanted to pursue a career in math. I obtained my BSc. in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Limerick in 2008, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Education at University College Dublin in 2009. Once I finished University, I went straight into teaching and taught in a range of different of schools at home, including the secondary school that I attended!

In 2014, big changes happened. I married my childhood sweetheart and we decided to make the big move to Abu Dhabi. This is now our 6th year here, my 3rd at BIS Abu Dhabi and somewhere we now consider home. In the six years we have been here, our most memorable moments are the births of our two daughters, who are 3 years and 9 months old. These days our weekends usually consist of a pool day and a trip to a soft play, although with the cooler temperatures arriving we’re all looking forward to spending more time outdoors.

During my three years at BIS Abu Dhabi, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from Year 7 right up to Year 13. Seeing students engaged and passionate about their learning is something I thrive off. The remarkable sense of community and excellent academic results sets us apart from the rest and I am incredibly proud to be a part of it.
