Kindness is defined as “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.”
Students at BIS Abu Dhabi recognise the importance of our school values and are generous when embracing and representing our values of Kindness, Honesty and Respect with each other and our wider community.
World Kindness Day is taking place on Wednesday 13th November. As a school, we are raising awareness of the importance of kindness in our everyday lives, whilst highlighting all the wonderful things we do as a school community to help and care for others. Therefore, on this day, all students are invited to wear yellow to school. We ask, that when students dress in their normal clothes, that they consider the culture and traditions of the country in which we live.
Throughout the day, there will be a number of activities that will be linked to kindness for all of our students to get involved in.
In addition, we are asking our school community to take part in our #bisbekind initiative. Students and families are encouraged to capture acts of kindness that they are involved in, both inside and outside of school, and send the pictures to bisbekind@bisad.ae so we can showcase all of them.
Last week, Mrs. Stanier, our Head of Humanities, had the pleasure of accompanying three of our amazing students: Tia and Renad from Year 12, and Turkan from Year 10, to Houston, Texas, to take part in the NAE UNICEF summit. We were thrilled to be hosted by one of our Nord Anglia schools, The Village School in Houston, the first Child-Friendly City in the US recognised by UNICEF. The Village School is a boarding school, so the students got to experience what life was like as a boarding student there for the week.
