As I’m sure you will be aware, a few weeks ago the school welcomed an Inspection Team from the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). These inspections happen once every two years and are designed to identify what the school is doing well and in what areas it can develop further.
We have now received the official report from ADEC and I am very pleased to inform you that the inspectors have recognised BIS Abu Dhabi as a Band A, High Performing School, judged as being Very Good.
To set this in context, the previous report from 2013 judged the school as Band B, Grade 4 (Satisfactory). It is a remarkable achievement and credit to all members of the school, that BIS Abu Dhabi has made such significant progress in such a short space of time. What’s more, until this academic year no school in Abu Dhabi has ever been judged as a Grade 1. The fact that BIS Abu Dhabi is now recognised at Grade 2 (Very Good) places us firmly in the top rank of all schools in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our parent community who are so supportive of our school, and to give particular recognition to the work of our staff. Over 250 colleagues work at school, from teachers to admin and classroom assistants to security staff. They are all dedicated to doing the best they can for every child every day. This recognition is a real testament to their talent and their commitment to achieving the highest standards.
The full report will be published on both the school’s and ADEC’s website in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I can share the headline judgments with you of which the school has been consistently rated as Very Good across all Performance Standards:
We are all very proud of the ethos of our school and of the students’ achievements; it is exceptionally pleasing that this has now been officially recognised by ADEC and is a tremendous platform from which we intend to reach even greater heights in the future.
In advance of the Winter Holidays, I wish you all a very happy break.
