The facts:
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK(NHS). Data from the GCCR point confirmed previous observations that breast cancer is among the most common malignancies observed in the UAE population.
In 2011, just under 50,000 women in the UK were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Most women who get it (8 out of 10) are over 50, but younger women, and in rare cases, men, can also get breast cancer. If it's treated early enough, breast cancer can be prevented from spreading to other parts of the body.
The BIS Community:
This month BIS Abu Dhabi PTA and student community are working to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer. The Charity Committee have been working extensively in an elaborate campaign and have joined forces with Emirates Association for Cancer Support and Brest Friends.
