UK COURSES FOR 11 TO 18 YEAR OLDS

The STEAM Pioneers Summer Programme is a dynamic course for students aged 11 to 15 who want to explore their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM).

The Headstart Summer Programme is an immersive and dynamic course for driven high school students aged from 16 to 18 years old who are preparing for their future academic careers.

Aeronautics
Drone Coding Workshop
A workshop designed to encourage students to use creative thinking to find solutions to a challenging problem.
Aeronautics
Students taking part in our Drone Coding workshop will learn to code the flight patterns of their drones using block programming or Swift coding language (used to develop apps on iPhone and iPad). They’ll provide algorithms to their drone to help guide it safely around a course or to perform a coordinated routine.

'Whodunit' Workshop

The ‘Whodunit’ forensic science workshop is a highly unique and interactive activity.

It sees students examine a crime scene, investigate a murder based on a real-life case and ends in the fight of their life presenting the evidence in a mock courtroom trial. The day inspires students, gives them focus, confidence and helps the students apply theory into practice through a range of practical exercises.

Prepare Robots
Lego ®Mindstorms®

Students will build robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® and code them using an easy to use graphical environment.

This gripping activity broadens students’ knowledge and understanding about some key concepts from fields such as science, engineering, technology and mathematics. Coding in class has never been more fun!

This comprehensive course provides students with an opportunity to make a more informed and prepared decision on their future university applications. Through a series of admissions talks and workshops, university masterclasses, and guided tours, students will gain unique insights into leading UK university academics and student life. Students will also receive personalised advice and support on their future university and career aspirations. The course is an opportunity to experience a great mix of academic and personal development on this unforgettable and inspirational university experience.

University Insights Visits
Students will visit leading UK universities and receive exclusive tours designed to give a deeper understanding of what life at university is like.
University Insights Visits
The university tours aim to help students make a decision on the type of university they would like to attend in the future. Across the 14-day programme, students will visit a number of universities, including: Bath University, Oxford University, University of Cambridge, King’s College London and University College London (UCL).

Designed to enable students to fulfil their potential in university applications, University Preparation Masterclasses help build key skills for future careers and higher education.
University Preparation Masterclasses
Master classes are an overview of the essential skills and preparation that is needed for success at university. Topics include CV writing, UCAS introductions, interview skills, essay writing skills and an opportunity to talk about the UK undergraduate experience.

Oxford Union Debate Society
Students will attend one debate society per week at Oxford Union.
Debate Society
They will receive guidance on debating structure and a platform upon which to practise and improve their debating skills. They will scrutinize ideas and policies, engaging with opposing views and speaking strategically.

Bodleian Library, Oxford
Oxford is home to the world-famous Bodleian Library, which opened in 1602.

The Bodleian Library might be most well-known for appearing in Harry Potter films but is also world-famous for its collection of books and manuscripts as well as its architecture.

House of Parliament in Westminster, London
Students will have the opportunity for a weekend excursion to central London, where they can see the centre of British democracy and legislation in action.
Houses of Parliament
Students will visit Parliament and learn about the role of Parliament in British politics and how new laws are enacted. Students will also discover the history and heritage of the building, giving them a unique insight into modern day politics, and stunning art and architecture.

Museum Tours
Students will sample London’s diverse museum culture, covering anthropology, archaeology, natural history, art and culture.
Museum Tours
Students will have the opportunity to visit the London Science and Natural History Museums. The Natural History Museum in London is a museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It is one of three major museums on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

  • What lessons and activities will students take part in?

    Students studying on the Nord Anglia Education STEAM Pioneers course will engage in hands-on activities with dedicated teachers who provide tailored support. Maths is approached practically, and students will have the opportunity to connect with Nord Anglia peers from across the globe. Alongside the STEAM lessons, students will take part in a series of workshops led by industry professionals. Students will also enjoy a number of excursions to popular destinations in the area such as London and Oxford.

    Students studying on the Nord Anglia Education Headstart course will attend a series of admissions talks and workshops, university masterclasses, and guided tours, giving students a unique insight into leading UK university academics and student life. Throughout the course, students will also receive personalised advice and support on their future university and career aspirations in small study groups.

  • Where will students stay during their visit?

    Students studying on the Nord Anglia Education STEAM Pioneer Programme (11-15 year olds) will stay at Oxford International College in Brighton.

    Opened in September 2023, Oxford International College Brighton is Nord Anglia Education’s newest school. The multi-million pound development includes everything a student could need within a stunning 80,000-square metre enclosed campus, providing an ideal location for young summer school students. Facilities include modern teaching facilities, including state-of-the-art laboratories and newly furnished boarding houses. The college is located a short distance from the seaside town of Brighton.

    Students studying on the Nord Anglia Education Headstart Programme (16-18 year olds) will stay at Student Castle, part of Oxford International College (a Nord Anglia Education school), in the heart of Oxford. Students will be close to shops, restaurants and all that the city centre has to offer.

    The single occupancy dorm rooms in university-style apartments are equipped with an ensuite bathroom, a single bed, desk, storage space, lockable safe and wardrobe. Towels and bedding are provided, with regular housekeeping services.

  • How much does the course cost?

    Nord Anglia Education STEAM Pioneers Summer Programme costs £1,650 per week for Nord Anglia Education students and £1,899 for non-Nord Anglia Education students. Our flexible timetable allows Nord Anglia Education STEAM Pioneers to study for a one, two, three or four weeks over the summer from 2 - 30 July.

    Nord Anglia Education Headstart Summer Programme is £1,850 per week for Nord Anglia Education students and £2,150 for non-Nord Anglia Education students. Nord Anglia Education Headstart students can opt for a two week block from the 2 - 16 July or from the 16 - 30 July.

  • How can a Nord Anglia Education student claim their discount?

    In the application form students will be asked to enter their Nord Anglia Education school name. They will then be asked to enter the code 'NAE15' and the discount will be applied to the course fee total. We will verify with the admissions team that the student attends the named school and send through the welcome pack and course information details.
