INTERNATIONAL MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

At San Roberto International Middle School in Monterrey, we push our students out of their comfort zone while nurturing their characters and building on the skills they've mastered in earlier grades. Your child’s Personal Learning Plan will see them work towards short- and long-term goals, as they develop the attributes and knowledge they need to succeed at high school.

When they finish Grade 9, students go on to their later education as responsible young adults with the relationships and resources they need to immerse themselves in high school — and thrive.

Academic Program for Grades 6 to 9

Your child will benefit from our personalized approach to teaching that ensures they stay intellectually energized, socially connected and globally aware, paving the way to a successful ongoing educational journey when they leave us at the end of grade 9.

The Middle school division has a team of specialists in literacy, technology, and counselling to support teachers in helping students with their emotional and academic needs.

To guide our personalized learning approach, students in Elementary and Middle School take MAP standardized tests twice a year—measuring their growth against international grade norms.

Critical Thinking Integrated with Technology

In a 1:1 Technology environment, our Middle School program emphasizes on the development of critical thinking skills, higher-order thinking and problem-solving by integrating curriculum content with the best technology available.

Our students and teachers are immersed in a technological infrastructure, featuring campus-wide high-speed Wi-Fi connections. Students in grades 4-9 use their own devices to maximize and foster active student learning.

We provide a well-rounded education in our students through rigorous reading and writing, both in English and Spanish. These skills provide continuity across our curriculum and engage students in courses on language arts, math, science and social studies, encouraging independent thought and application of learning.

Developing the whole child

Additionally, our students take physical education, civics courses, and choose one of three different music specialties (choir, band, or percussion), based on their individual ability.

We emphasize character development and encourage personal growth through a vigorous values program, advisory program, Digital Nation framework, and social responsibility campaigns. Teachers act as guides and coaches for students as they develop their Personal Learning Plans to make sure students develop areas of interests beyond academic subjects.

Global and Compassionate Leaders

Your child will gain a global perspective thanks to the Global Campus platform. On the platform, students collaborate remotely throughout the year with peers from around the world, tackling world issues via projects and challenges. They address a global problem from different perspectives through research, discussion and debate.

Grade 9 students participate in the Interims program. For a week they get a hands-on experience on a variety of topics that could see them to travel to places like China, Japan, Canada, and Orlando, participate in local master classes; or engage in enriching social responsibility projects.

On the Leadership Skills and Global Issus course, 6-9 grade students gain discussion and debate abilities, learn about MUN protocols, and develop an understanding of international affairs. They later get to practice these skills in our renowned model United Nations simulation. They also learn about democratic and citizenship processes by voting, campaigning and electing their Student Government officers.
