Students and teachers alike were very excited to be going on our first Year 8 Geography field trip, to Sai Kaew Navy Beach in Sattahip, since the lifting of COVID restrictions.
As part of their investigations, students collected a range of first-hand data, such as measuring beach profiles; measuring the rate of long-shore drift; making accurate field sketches; undertaking questionnaires; doing a land use survey; collecting a population survey, and undertaking a series of Environmental Quality Surveys.
"The aim of the Fieldtrip is to investigate the real world beyond the classroom. Geography in its nature is a subject that requires this approach to learning. At Regents, we are committed to at least one external fieldwork opportunity per year in the subject. Unfortunately, restrictions due to the pandemic have prevented us from doing so for years. During that time, we managed to utilize some online tools such as Google Maps and Google Street View as virtual fieldwork at school" - Mr. Timothy Spear, Head of Geography.
At Regents, our specialist staff are experts at creating personalised support programmes for students with additional educational needs. That’s why, throughout October we are celebrating Dyslexia and ADHD Awareness Month.
