To celebrate World Children's Day we handed over the school to Primary students on 18 November and Secondary students on 21 November to run for the day.
For Primary students takeover on 18 November, Primary Head Students and Yr 6 House Captains: Guna, Eshan, Non, and Jiajia, took over leadership roles as Head of Primary, Deputy Head of Primary, and Assistant Head of Primary, as well as other important leadership roles, such as librarian, administration and the Primary canteen! Many lessons were led by the children across Primary in coding, taekwondo, origami, Microsoft windows, and basketball.
"At first, I was a bit nervous but with Mr. Stephen's help, I found it fun to take over the role of Head of Primary. What I've learnt about being Head of Primary is how to manage tasks and time efficiently because there are so many things to do in a day. He taught me to understand the matrix that helps with prioritizing tasks. So, I learned how to manage time well and how to work more efficiently."
- Eshan, Year 6, Primary Head Students
On 21 November, Secondary students: Shubhansi, Sreya, Grace, and many more, took on the roles of School Principal, Head of Secondary, Deputy Head, and teachers with lessons in Spanish using Kahoot, experiments on photosynthesis, obstacle courses in PE, and creating digital music.
[[\media\video 2.mp4]]Ms Shubhansi, one of our Year 12 students, took over the role of School Principal for the day and was able to share some very exciting news with our community introducing our new School Principal, Ms Amos Turner-Wardell, our current Head of Secondary who will take on the role in February.
"Takeover day was a unique opportunity that we had to embrace World Children's Day. I spent the day acting as the School Principal of our school and learnt a lot about management. How to make sure people feel comfortable around you and the immense amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes. But the most important thing I learnt was that I wasn't alone, there is a huge team of teachers, support staff and students that work with you to make your work enjoyable and productive. It is really important as a leader to have trust among the entire Regents community and to build symbiotic relationships, where you can help others and they will be there for you too. It was definitely a lot of meetings and 'emergency' situations to deal with but overall everything I expected our School Principal to experience and manage."
- Shubhansi, Year 12, Secondary Head Students
They did an amazing job resulting in a fun, challenging, exciting, dynamic and very professional day at school for everyone.
