Our International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Diploma students opened their Art Exhibition last night, an uplifting exhibition, displaying a range of genres. As the students spoke to the audience about their art, they expressed the influence that had inspired them. Our students spoke about positive experiences to Tanzania, family, friends and significant events in their lives that they have cherished or been shocked by.
The exhibition hosted the creative works of Year 13 students: Mirabell Nicklas, Fenella Alfri, Alina Weinberg, Angella Castelli, Jet (Chalita) Kuajaroon, Beam (Tananya) Seangruedee, Susan (Gamontip) Walker.
The exhibition is 40% of the student's final grade. They have to select between 8 and 11 final pieces from their 2 year course of study, these pieces need to connect in some way and represent a coherent collection. They are also graded on technical competence, and conceptual qualities. Finally, they need to curate their own exhibition, taking into consideration the audience/viewers.
In their exhibition space you can also see a copy of their Process Portfolio (further 40% of their grade) and their Comparative Study (20% of their grade) which are in their final stages and will be marked externally.
I would encourage anyone at all who is interested to come and have a look at the exhibition in S206 (opposite the School Principal's office). It is open until next Wednesday during student school hours.
Monday 8am-4.30pm
Tuesday 8am-3.30pm
Wednesday 8am-3.30pm
You are more than welcome. If you do visit, the students would really appreciate you writing comments and feedback in their individual comments book.
Dr Korczak's Example, a whole school production and the IB Visual Arts Exhibition are both shining examples of how Music, Drama and Arts is embraced at Regents. Our students have opportunities outside the ordinary to express themselves, influence others and have an impact on a school community. Congratulations to everyone involved in making these events happen; for the hours of preparation, attention to detail and allowing our children to shine.
