Have you met our Gappies ? - ‘Regents’ commitment to its Gap Student Programme shows true internationalism’
Many teachers would agree that one of the most valuable resources which we have at Regents are our Gap Students. They bring a true sense of internationalism with them to the school, representing 8 nationalities amongst the 11 Gappies who have joined us for this academic year: Australian, British, Canadian, Colombian, Ecuadorian, German, Kenyan and South African.
Many of our Gappies come from Round Square Schools and all of them are hand-picked for the skills and attributes which they can offer Regents. Each of our Gappies has something special to offer, ranging from singing skills to being able to speak 4 different languages. The Gappies support all aspects of the school curriculum across Primary and Secondary, both inside and outside of the classroom and can also be seen performing Boarding Duties every week, supporting whole school events and accompanying students on trips.
The Gap Student Programme usually runs for a whole academic year, although some Gap Students opt for the half-year programme, to fit in with their applications for university in their respective countries.
Rhiannon, Round Square Assistant and Gappie Support Staff commented on the Gap Student Programme that:
"An opportunity like this takes you out of your comfort zone. Living in a new country and working in an international school, throws new challenges at you daily. It keeps you on your toes and ensures that you are ready for anything!"
