Last Thursday our Under 15 team took on GIS as part of their preparations for the U15 FOBISIA games in Beijing, China in November. This friendly match was part of the ESAC competitions between several local schools in this area, and it was their 2nd match this term.
It is with the greatest pleasure that we welcome back Kathryn Andersen to Regents International School Pattaya for the start of the second year of her visits as part of the unique Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme. Kathryn is a violinist from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She received her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University. She studied with Ronald Copes, Peter Zazofsky, and James Buswell.
Our commitment as a Round Square school continues with a number of wonderful conservation trips offered during the academic year for our students to participate in. One of those trips took place in August when a group of students and staff visited the Juara Turtle Project on Tioman Island.
It was great to see a mixed group of primary and secondary students, parents and teachers work alongside our friends from Mermaids on the International Schools' Reef Clean 2016.
Regents International School Pattaya's exceptionally skilled brass teacher, Mr Clarence Mansell demonstrated his musical talent to Year 7 students by not only playing each brass instrument in the Music Department, but playing a tune on a tube, a funnel and a kettle. Needless to say, the students were amazed!
This week, the Secondary Science Department worked closely with the Year 3 teachers to set up some exciting food experiments. The children have been learning all about different food groups and what they do to help us stay healthy.
Regents' IB students are celebrating an outstanding set of results that reflects a learning environment of the highest quality. For the third consecutive year, students scored a 33+ point average with a top end score of 43. Our 2016 graduates are now looking forward to taking up their places at University College London, University of Edinburgh, University of Toronto, KAIST (South Korea), amongst other leading tertiary institutions.
As we approached Phuket from the air, we could see the mountains of Khao Sok and we were captivated by the landscape. We all knew there were things down there waiting to feed on us.
Each year, the Secondary Student Guild runs its annual Talent Show, followed by the House Battle of the Bands Competition. This year was the first year in which there was whole school collaboration and the Talent Show became a Primary and Secondary joint event.
This has been another highly successful year for LAMDA students in Secondary with 27 candidates entered resulting in a very encouraging set of results, including 16 Distinction, 9 Merit and 2 Pass Grades.
Celebrations continued in the evening at the Senior Formal, this year held at The Hilton Hotel. The students looked absolutely stunning in their beautiful dresses and smart suits and took advantage of the official photographer to have various formal and informal group photos during the course of the evening.
This year's graduation ceremony was held on Saturday 21st May in the Globe Theatre. Following the procession of the students, his Majesty the King's anthem was sung with guitar accompaniment by Teerapat - Game.
When asked, “Who wants to sit a very difficult Physics paper simply for fun?” it takes a special kind of student to unhesitatingly put themselves forward.
