Matthew firmly believes in the importance of a rounded approach to education and developed the school enrichment programme with a strong focus on co-curricular activities, expeditions, international-mindedness and leadership.
He took his first degree in English studying at Oriel College Oxford, followed by an MA in Language and Education at Leeds and a PGCE at The University of East Anglia. He holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Happily married with three grown-up children, Matthew is relishing his time as Principal at NAS Dubai.
Matthew is happily married, has four grown up children, four grandchildren and is passionate about oriental rugs.
Tara believes in giving NAS Dubai students the skills they require to be lifelong learners. In today’s quickly evolving world, it’s paramount that children are not only filled with knowledge, but that they are supported to acquire the skills of being resilient, resourceful, reflective and to be able to solve problems independently and with others.
Tara has lived in Dubai for the past ten years with her husband and three children. She’s incredibly proud of all the accomplishments of NAS Dubai so far and is excited about what the future brings.
She is happily married with 3 children and loves to travel.
Throughout his teaching career, Tom has enjoyed a variety of roles and responsibilities. Having started his career in Cheshire, England, he held responsibilities of Head of Department, Head of House and Head of Year. The skills he acquired enabled him to obtain leadership positions at other schools, having previously been Head of Secondary in Qatar and Shanghai.
Tom was part of a leadership team that was recognised by the Department of Education (DFE) and the Secretary of State for Education with a ‘Character Award’, and this underpins his educational philosophy and something he strongly believes in. Most recently, he has been Head of Secondary at Compass International School, a Nord Anglia school in Doha, Qatar, and the British International School, Shanghai - Puxi. During his tenure, the school's exam results at both IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme had increased year on year.
Tom strives to be a role model for students and staff, and has undertaken various qualifications to ensure his specialist knowledge in education and leadership is continually updated. Tom holds a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership from the Department for Education in England; a PENTA Level 2 in International School Inspections; and is a qualified IB Administrator. Recently Tom gained his Masters in International Education with King’s College London.
Tom is happily married with 3 children that all attend NAS Dubai.
