Welcome to the update from the Northbridge International School Cambodia Parent Council, which follows their regular meeting and discussion. Here are the topics that were addressed at the latest meeting.
Discussion Points:
Will the Christmas Fair happen on 15th December?
A decision will be made this week on whether the event should be cancelled or, as with other school events, be postponed to a different date.
How can Early Learning students benefit more from virtual learning?
The suggestion that Early Learning students have individual teaching times with their teacher 2-3 times a week was very much welcomed. It was also suggested that the lesson for the week be provided to the parent in advance so they can help guide their child during the sessions.
Cafeteria Service Update
A new catering team have been undergoing training and are working closely with the school to ensure that the Cafeteria can offer great tasting and nutritious lunches. Based on survey feedback, the overall quality of the service is high, with food tastes and individual portions being adjusted. Given the current campus closure, Cafeteria service will resume in January.
New Principal Search Update
As Mr Richard will be moving to BIS Hanoi in the summer, the position of the Northbridge Principal has been advertised internationally. Once a shortlist of candidates is finalized, an interview panel composed of staff, students and parents is likely to happen.
Aquatics Center
Construction on the new Aquatics Center is expected to be completed at the end of December 2020, with a grand opening in January 2021!
Arts Center and Running Track
Draft plans for a new Arts Center have already begun. While the running track is part of the school’s master plan, it will not be built in the immediate future. In its place, a plan for an indoor running track is being considered.
IB Exams
The school has adequate internal assessments in place and the IB exams will take place this year.
How does the school track and verify direct / indirect Covid 19 contact among students?
The school has stringent health and safety protocols in place and has established external key contacts to ensure the school is kept up to date with any developments.
The school also relies on the entire school community to always share important health information updates so action plans can be considered. Any concerns should be sent to Nurse Cherry: Cherry.Barnuevo@nisc.edu.kh
