Last weekend our Northbridge International School Cambodia Senior Nagas Football Teams travelled to Hanoi to compete in the 2018-2019 ASAC tournament. Both teams came into the tournament with energy, focus and were able to walk away with solid performances.
The senior girls did well all tournament playing dominant football over the other teams. The Nagas finished first after the pool play stages winning all of their games and impressively not allowing any goals in.
The girls won their semi-finals with a full team approach and entered the finals with confidence. Although they were up against a tough opponent the girls held their own for the first half keeping the game at 0-0.
In the second half the girls allowed the first goal in of the tournament and although they battled back, they could not connect with the opportunities to score.
After an amazing tournament the Nagas ended in second place, the all tournament picks for the team were Porkhim Tang and Emily Meas.
The senior boys stayed true to their philosophy as a team and played some excellent football beyond their years. The boys came out strong on day one earning a draw against the eventual tournament champions ISHCMC.
After pool play the boys ended in 4th place but worked hard during their semi-final once again against ISHCMC pressing for most of the match. Although the boys lost their semi-final they kept focused and determined to bring home a medal.
In their final the boys were dominant and kept possession of the ball for the majority of the game. The boys ended in 3rd place and the all tournament pick was Marcel Basabe-Kato.
This marks the end of the senior traveling sports seasons as all three ASAC’s have now taken place. However, our Nagas are not done yet. April 26th and 27th will be the ISSAPP local finals where our Nagas are sure to impress. Make sure you come out to ISPP and show your support for our amazing teams.
Go Nagas!
