Year 5 initiated a project to create an 'Indonesia Atlas' book, which would inform the reader about Indonesia, it's people, geography, culture and history, alongside some fantastic illustrations.
NAS Jakarta took part in a STEAM challenge set by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), in conjunction with Nord Anglia University. The challenge was for students to create a compelling image with a new perspective that will engage and inform the viewer. They will capture a compelling scientific image that, when paired with explanatory text, conveys a complex concept.
Today we left our school uniforms at home and came to school dressed in a fabulous array of batik clothing to celebrate National Batik Day (Hari Batik Nasional) which is celebrated each year on October 2.
Being in the teaching profession requires keeping up to date with educational developments and research happening. My own current research in the classroom is with mathematics and the UK’s National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). This organisation promotes a ‘deep and lasting procedural and conceptual mathematical understanding’ so that ‘children’s chances of succeeding in education and life will be maximised’.
