Rosy Clark
Principal

With more than 30 years of global teaching and leadership experience, Rosy has witnessed an extraordinary evolution in education and has delved deep into creating life-changing learning experiences that are memorable for children beyond the classroom.

Rosy Clark, Principal

Rosy has taught and led in international schools for over thirty years across several countries in Asia and Europe. Through all her experiences, she’s been passionate about creating a caring and happy environment to foster children’s confidence, so they’ll embrace what makes them special and thrive in the world.

Prior to moving to leading NAS Jakarta, Rosy was founding Head of Primary at the British Vietnamese International School in Ho Chi Minh City, where she received a Nord Anglia Education school leadership award for the school’s tremendous growth as the leading bilingual school in Vietnam. Before this, Rosy also taught and led at primary schools in South East London and The British School in The Netherlands in The Hague.

Among many vibrant learning experiences, Rosy’s own have included earning a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Reading, Postgraduate Certificate of Education from Oxford Brookes University, and the National Professional Qualification for Headship from the National College of School Leadership – all in the UK.

In her free time, she loves to read, travel, and hike. She also enjoys all forms of arts. In the past, she was in the International Choir of Ho Chi Minh City and got to travel to New York to perform in Carnegie Hall!

Jo Smith
Head of Primary

As Head of Primary, Jo is passionate and committed to providing the best possible holistic education that celebrates and values academic and pastoral excellence in an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Jo Smith, Head of Primary

Jo is an experienced educator with over 20 years experience in the UK and Asia. She has worked internationally for the past 11 years and held a number of educational leadership positions. Jo has a BA (Hons) History and English degree from Bath University and more recently successfully completed The National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), UK.

As Head of Primary, Jo is passionate and committed to providing the best possible holistic education that celebrates and values academic and pastoral excellence in an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Jo joined NAS Jakarta in 2023 and enjoys traveling and exploring all that Southeast Asia has to offer.

Domine Brown
Early Years Coordinator
Dom has taught for more than 20 years, bringing her adventurous spirit, passion for lifelong learning, and enthusiasm into her classrooms – and inspiring every child to be courageous, so they can take on life's colourful challenges.

Domine Brown, Early Years Coordinator

Dom loves to inspire the curiosity and creativity of every child. As the Early Years Coordinator at Nord Anglia School Jakarta, she uses her expertise to nurture the minds and abilities of the youngest of learners. Before joining NAS Jakarta, she also worked with Early Years students at the British School of Jakarta for over a decade.

This expanded upon her time as a kindergarten teacher at the Egypt British International School and as a primary teacher at St Paul’s Primary School in London, UK. Through all her teaching experiences, she’s inspired her students to explore and discover – enriched by the time she worked as a marine scientist at the Australian Museum – before she became a teacher.

Among many vibrant learning experiences, Dom’s own have included earning a BA in Advanced Science in Marine Science and Oceanography from the University of New South Wales and a BA in Primary Education Studies from Charles Sturt University, both in Australia. She recently completed her Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Macquarie University.

In her free time, Dom enjoys spending time her family. She likes staying active by surfing, swimming, and running, too. She loves to travel and always brings her adventurous spirit and contagious enthusiasm into her classroom.

Deasy Margaretha
Nursery Teacher
Deasy Margaretha is honoured and humbled to be an Early Years teacher. She has been teaching in Early Years for 15 years. She has a true passion for working with the youngest learners, helping each child progress in all areas of their development - academic, social, language, and physical.

Deasy Margaretha, Nursery Teacher
Deasy Margaretha is honoured and humbled to be an Early Years teacher. She has been teaching in Early Years for 15 years. She has a true passion for working with the youngest learners, helping each child progress in all areas of their development - academic, social, language, and physical.  She strives to create a community of learners where this growth is nurtured in a positive environment. Deasy’s work is rooted in the belief that a great education is foundational to life success. 
Deasy graduated with a Master’s Degree of Educational Technology majoring in Early Childhood Education from Pelita Harapan University, Jakarta. She also received an AKTA IV (Indonesian’s Teacher Certificate) and a Bachelor’s Degree from Satya Wacana Christian University. 
Deasy joined Nord Anglia School Jakarta in 2022. She is excited to expand and integrate a bright future for her students. NAS is a wonderful nurturing place where play is children's most important experience. It builds lifelong learners and supports children to gain essential knowledge and skills. Deasy loves to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning. She enjoys her time with her students and co-workers. 
Deasy is an avid traveller. She loves seeing new sights and exploring new places. Her favourite place is the mountains, where she feels comfortable and safe. It is a place to go in time of happiness and sadness; a place that reminds her of beautiful memories and reminiscences and a place to change her mood!

Stephanie Gunawan
Nursery Teacher

Ayyalah Stephanie has been working for over ten years in Early Childhood Education. She is a Reggio - inspired educator, passionate about guiding children to take ownership of and lead their own learning journey. Providing a safe and nurturing environment for young learners is what she strives for as she knows that children learn best when they feel safe and happy.

Stephanie Gunawan, Nursery Teacher

Ayyalah Stephanie has been working for over ten years in Early Childhood Education. Prior to teaching, she worked in a marketing and strategy department in a Singapore property company where she was enlightened by her real passion which was for teaching. She achieved Montessori certification from Modern Montessori International, London and immediately put her skills to work after graduating by teaching young learners in a Montessori school in Jakarta for six years. While working there, she pursued a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Pelita Harapan University to deepen her knowledge about young children and how they learn. She acquired additional experience teaching in a variety of kindergartens before joining the NAS Jakarta family in January 2019, where she currently teaches in Early Years.

Ayyalah Stephanie is a Reggio - inspired educator, passionate about guiding children to take ownership of and lead their own learning journey. Providing a safe and nurturing environment for young learners is what she strives for as she knows that children learn best when they feel safe and happy. Ayyalah Stephanie is an advocate for authentic child - led play and strongly believes it is the most natural and effective way for young children to learn. She encourages all children to take advantage of the natural environment and to embrace being messy in their play. How Ayyalah Stephanie ultimately wants children to experience their learning is best summed up by this quote: "And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.”

In her personal time, Ayyalah Stephanie is a trained belly dancer and avidly pursues this interest. She is a nature lover and enjoys spending time outdoors, especially at the beach. Driven by her love for nature, Ayyalah Stephanie strives to be eco – friendly and is committed to making positive contributions towards the environment. Her motto is “The littlest gesture helps still.”

Dwi Andriani
Foundation 1 Teacher

Dwi has experience of teaching in Early Years and Lower Primary for 12 years. She believes that motivated children are the future of this world. Dwi has a true passion for working with these young learners.

Dwi Andriani, Foundation 1 Teacher

Dwi believes that motivated children are the future of this world. She has a true passion for working with these young learners. Helping each child progress in all areas of their development - academic, social, language, and motor - is a challenge that she is honoured to accept daily. She incorporates mindfulness into her teaching to help students improve their academic and social - emotional learning.

Dwi has experience of teaching in Early Years and Lower Primary for 12 years. She enjoys sharing meaningful stories and listening attentively to little anecdotes from her students’ lives.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the STKIP Kusuma Negara Jakarta.  She gratefully joined the renowned Nord Anglia School Jakarta in 2022 as an Early Years Teacher.

In her free time, Dwi enjoys cooking, spending time with her family and traveling to meet new people and learn about different cultures. She also paints with acrylics and captures colours in nature.

Esther Coumans
Foundation 1 Teacher

Esther Coumans is a specialist who has worked in the Early Years for more than 20 years in Jakarta. Besides teaching in Early Years, her other passion is creative art, and she enjoys teaching her love for art to children from different age groups.

Esther Coumans, Foundation 1 Teacher

Esther Coumans is a specialist who has worked in the Early Years for more than 20 years in Jakarta, first at NIS and also later when the school became the Nord Anglia School Jakarta.

 

Before moving to Jakarta, Esther worked in the Netherlands at different schools as an Early Years teacher. She left the country to go to South Africa in 1998, where she worked in Johannesburg and Pretoria as a language teacher for children aged 4 to 12 years old. Her three children grew up in Jakarta and were educated at NIS.

 

Besides teaching in Early Years, her other passion is creative art, and she enjoys teaching her love for art to children from different age groups.

Reshma Bhojwani
Foundation 2 Teacher

Reshma has been an early childhood educator, a Montessori directress and a centre leader for the last twenty-two years. As an educator, she is inspired by the philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori and Reggio Emilia and strongly believes in the child-centred and holistic approach to education.

Reshma Bhojwani, Foundation 2 Teacher

Reshma has been an early childhood educator, a Montessori directress and a centre leader for the last twenty-two years. She has a Bachelor in Business Administration, a Diploma in Montessori Early Childhood Education, a Diploma in Education and recently completed her Masters in Early Childhood Education. She has been at the Nord Anglia School Jakarta  since August 2022.

 

As an educator, she is inspired by the philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori and Reggio Emilia and strongly believes in the child-centred and holistic approach to education. She views children as unique, capable and curious learners and strives to provide an environment that meets the child’s needs, facilitates independent learning and exploration through play. She is a strong advocate for developing the foundation of social-emotional skills from young and believes that mentally and emotionally healthy children are more motivated, happier and have a positive attitude to learning. Having recently completed a course on mindfulness for early years, she integrates mindfulness techniques into her teaching practices to nurture the emotional well-being of both children and educators. In her free time, Reshma loves to travel, read and to hone herself with new skills and knowledge.

Helen Jezeph
Year 1 Teacher

Helen joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2024 as a Year 1 teacher.

Helen Jezeph, Year 1 Teacher

Helen joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2024 as a Year 1 teacher. Prior to working in Indonesia, Helen taught in a British bilingual school in Panama and has also worked in schools in countries including Malaysia, Oman and China. Helen is pleased to be back working in Asia especially, as a JIS alumni, she remembers the value and impact of exposure to the Indonesian arts and traditions as a child. 

  • PGCE in Primary Education, Brighton University, UK.
  • BA Hons Degree in Theatre Studies, Lancaster University, UK.
  • CELTA Certificate in Teaching English, St Giles College, Brighton, UK.
  • Helen also participated in a course with the Open University, on Reading for Pleasure, exploring various pedagogies to engage young readers. 

Outside of school Helen enjoys exploring trails in nature and learning about indigenous arts and cultures.

Venetia Scruton
Milepost 1 Leader and Year 1 Teacher
Venetia joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2023 as a Year 1 Teacher. Prior to coming to Indonesia, Venetia spent five years in Queensland Australia working as a teacher in the outback and for private schools on the Sunshine Coast. Previously she worked for well known international schools in Beijing, China and Cairo, Egypt.

Hamdy Hizaoui
Year 2 Teacher
Hamdy joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2024 as a Year 2 teacher. Prior to his role in Indonesia, Hamdy served as a Year Group Lead, Computing Lead, and led the MTC assessments at a mainstream primary school in Tunbridge Wells, England.

Russel Tilly, Year 2 Teacher

Russel Tilly, originally from Buckinghamshire, England graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a 2:1 Bachelor of Education (Hons) Degree in primary education with a specialism in Art and Design and English Literature. In the UK, Russel taught mainly in culturally diverse communities in both Years 1 and 2 in Berkshire and London. Pursuing his passion for different cultures and diversity, in 2007 he had the opportunity to work in an international school in Shanghai. During this time Russel was given the opportunity to maximize his creative teaching potential by developing art within the school and working as a Year 1 Leader. Russel went on to teach in international schools in many other cities over the world including Bangkok, New York and Los Angeles.

Fostering his development as a teacher and always seeking a challenge to further his career in education, Russel worked with several children's charities and completed a number of courses focusing on teaching students with English as a secondary language, enhancing high-performance learning, and the inclusion and accessibility of high-ability learning for all students. While living in the United States, he taught both key stages in the private school sector and has recently achieved four certifications in psychology in education.

Marcia Ngure
Year 2 Teacher
Marcia Ngure joined NAS Jakarta in July 2024 as a Year 2 teacher. She has been teaching full-time since 2019 and has worked in Malaysia, Kenya and the United Kingdom.

Emma Gibb, Year 2 Teacher

Emma joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2020 as a Year 3 teacher and is now teaching Year 2. Prior to coming to Indonesia, Emma worked at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi in the UAE and has worked in a variety of international schools over her teaching career.

Emma’s passion for wellbeing led to her to become our school wellbeing and PSHE leader. She firmly believes that teaching wellbeing is instrumental in fostering a growth mindset and emotional resilience among students. Emma recognises that cultivating happiness and confidence enables children to evolve into independent learners and achieve their full potential. Her commitment to professional development and research showcases a dedication to deepen her understanding of student wellbeing and mindfulness, underlining her commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment that contributes significantly to the holistic development of each child.

In her spare time, Emma dedicates time to nurturing her own wellbeing, participating in weekly yoga classes and enjoying the serenity of swimming. Her love for travel reflects a curiosity about diverse cultures globally. Emma also finds joy in the simple pleasures of reading, savouring music, and cherishing quality time with friends.

David Webb
Mileposts 2 & 3 Leader and Year 3 Teacher

David joined NAS Jakarta in 2022 and has previous experience working for Nord Anglia School, Dubai where he taught for 3 years. Before joining NAS Jakarta, he taught in Key Stages 1 and 2 and has led English at two other schools in Indonesia. He is an advocate for active learning and endeavours to provide opportunities to enable children to learn through inquiry.

David Webb , Mileposts 2 & 3 Leader and Year 3 Teacher

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education, Winchester University, UK. 

 

David joined NAS Jakarta in 2022 and has previous experience working for Nord Anglia School, Dubai where he taught for 3 years. Before joining NAS Jakarta, he taught in Key Stages 1 and 2 and has led English at two other schools in Indonesia. Whilst leading English, he was responsible for introducing and overseeing new curricula, organising Book Weeks and running training workshops. 

 

David has attended many training courses and conferences across Asia and has implemented technology innovation projects, such as a Robotics Club for ‘English as an Additional Language’ learners. He is an advocate for active learning and endeavours to provide opportunities to enable children to learn through inquiry. He is Milepost 2 and 3 Leader here at NAS Jakarta with responsibility for Years 3 – 6.

 

Outside of school, David is a fitness and sports enthusiast, who particularly enjoys travelling and surfing. He also plays the guitar in his spare time and has written his own songs, which he enjoys singing along to.

Michelle McCarthy
Year 3 Teacher

Michelle McCarthy joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2024 as A Year 3 teacher. Prior to coming to Indonesia, Michelle has taught for 10 years and has worked for Nord Anglia in Guangzhou as well as teaching in the UK.

Adam Miller, Year 6 Teacher

Adam qualified from the University of Lancaster with a degree in Primary Education. After completing his studies, he travelled to Australia and then worked in the U.S.A as a Camp Counsellor at a charity summer camp. On his return from his travels, he briefly worked in a school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Adam then began his international schools’ experience, moving to Valencia, Spain, teaching in two schools for a total of 8 years, working in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 as well as holding roles as Key Stage Coordinator, PE Coordinator and interim Head of school. In Krakow, Poland, Adam spent 9 years as Head of Primary and class teacher at The British International School of Krakow.

 

Adam is a firm believer in a holistic approach to teaching, getting to know students individually and creating a safe environment, where children are free to explore, experiment and be their true selves. Happy students can lead to students open to learning and reaching their full potential.

 

Outside of school, Adam is a big supporter of Manchester United and watches every game he is able to. He is also a keen follower of international rugby and cricket, as well as enjoying painting (mostly superheroes) watching movies and playing video games. Adam is keen on travel too, exploring new places and cultures, and is enjoying the opportunity to finally experience Asia.

Cristene Tipping
Year 4 Teacher

Christene Tipping joined NAS Jakarta as a Year 4 teacher in August 2024. Prior to relocating to Jakarta, she taught for 13 years at a distinguished international school in Singapore.

Juansan Maestro
Year 4 Teacher
Juansan Maestro joined the school in August 2024 with 11 years of experience living and working in England as a teacher in both London and Brighton. Before moving to Indonesia, Juansan taught at KCA - British School of Alicante.

Gerald Kay , Year 4 Teacher

Gerald began his career in education as an English as a Second Language teacher in Depok, Jakarta, before working in Italy for a year where his students attained some of the top spoken language results in the country. He returned to the UK to gain his PGCE at Goldsmith’s University London before completing his NQT year in Brent, London. He returned to Jakarta and his now-wife in 2016 and has been working in International Baccalaureate schools and for Nord Anglia Education since.

 

Outside of school Gerald enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. He has worked as a semi-professional photographer and has had work published in The Guardian. He exercises regularly to take part in endurance events, recently completing a 10 kilometre swim in Bali.

Carrie Thompson
Year 5 Teacher

Carrie joined NAS Jakarta in 2024 as a Year 5 teacher. She came to Indonesia with over 20 years experience working in education.

Michael Waggott, Year 5 Teacher

Having originally studied English & Journalism, Michael then found his career in working with young people. This started off as an outdoor activity leader before then transitioning into working in schools. Michael has worked in an array of schools (in the UK, Malaysia and Russia) over the past eight years, which has allowed him to work with students from a range of different backgrounds. Whilst working in Moscow, Michael decided to train in Primary Education and has embraced the role of being a Primary Class Teacher ever since. Michael places emphasis on the holistic development of students and looks to enable students to think critically, self-assess and improve. 

Michael joined NAS Jakarta in August 2022, excited to experience all that Indonesia has to offer. As an avid traveller, Michael is thrilled to be living in such an ecologically diverse part of the world, where he continues to learn about the biodiversity and culture within Indonesia. Michael is also a sports enthusiast and plays cricket and golf regularly in Jakarta.

Sarah O'Donovan
Assessment & Tracking Leader and Year 3 Teacher

Sarah joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2023 as a Year 3 teacher. Prior to coming to Indonesia, she taught at a prestigious school in Cairo. She fosters a growth mindset in her students and is dedicated to forming meaningful relationships with the children and their families.

Sarah joined NAS Jakarta in the summer of 2023 as a Year 3 teacher. Prior to coming to Indonesia, she taught at a prestigious school in Cairo.  

 

Qualified with a Bachelor of Education from Mary Immaculate College, Ireland, her teaching experience has primarily been in Key Stage 2, where she has spent the last eight years teaching Years 3, 4 and 6. Sarah fosters a growth mindset in her students and is dedicated to forming meaningful relationships with the children and their families.

 

Sarah is passionate about children’s mental health and well-being and is a qualified Youth Mental Health First Aider. During her career, she has held the positions of PSHE Co-ordinator, Associate Assistant Head of Primary and Literacy Lead. Currently she is Assessment and Tracking Leader for NAS Jakarta.

 

Sarah enjoys participating in social and sporting events and has recently taken up golf as a hobby. She loves to travel, experience new cultures and sample different cuisines. She is now enjoying exploring Indonesia and all it has to offer.

Febrina Takoy
Indonesia Language Studies Teacher

Febriana joined NAS Jakarta in March 2013. Prior to that, she taught Bahasa Indonesia at another international school in Jakarta, Indonesia. She has a passion for learning which she loves to share with her students.

Febrina Takoy, Indonesia Language Studies Teacher

Febriana joined NAS Jakarta in March 2013.  Prior to that, she taught Bahasa Indonesia at another international school in Jakarta, Indonesia.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Indraprasta University, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Febriana has taught a wide range of students from Early Years to Key Stage 2, both Indonesian native speakers and foreign students. She believes that culture is the soul of languages and as a result her lessons are always embedded with Indonesian culture including traditional festivals, art, tales, history and songs. She regularly participates in training provided by the government as she has a passion for learning which she loves to share with her students.

Felipe Delgado
Swim Coach
Felipe is a certified swim instructor from AUST SWIM, the Australian organisation for the teaching of swimming and water safety. He is also a certified fitness trainer from the International Sports Sciences Association, USA.

Felipe Delgado, Swim Coach

Felipe is a certified swim instructor from AUST SWIM, the Australian organisation for the teaching of swimming and water safety. He is also a certified fitness trainer from the International Sports Sciences Association, USA. Felipe has a Bachelor’s degree in Management of Industrial Engineering from the University of Manila as well as a degree in Physical Education from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

 

Felipe started swim coaching for swim teams at various international schools in Jakarta in 1998. He continued with NAS Jakarta when the school became a part of Nord Anglia Education in 2017 and prior to that had many years of experience of the Dutch swim certification programme.

 

Felipe designs and carries out aquatic swim programmes for each of the levels that he teaches, both in PE lessons as well as extra-curricular activities. He has coached school swim teams in competitive stroke techniques in preparation for invitational swim meets. Together with his committee, he also organises swim meets and swim galas.

 

Besides training school swim teams and individual swim athletes, since the year 2000 Felipe has also delivered Master Swim classes at the American Club. At the weekends, he enjoys coaching private swim lessons and personal training for local and expatriate families in South Jakarta.

Howard Yang
Music Teacher

Howard joined NAS Jakarta in August 2023. Originally born in Taipei, Taiwan, he has been teaching music for the past 10 years. Prior to embarking upon his teaching career, Howard Yang was a full-time musician. He plays piano, trombone, and bassoon.

Mulrevita
Indonesia Language Studies Teacher

Irev joined NAS Jakarta in August 2002 and has been teaching Bahasa Indonesia for speakers of other languages since 2014.  Irev has worked as an Indonesian language studies teacher at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in addition to her teaching experience at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Dutch Language Teacher

Pia joined NAS Jakarta in August 2021. Originally from Antwerp, Belgium, Pia has worked as a primary school teacher in Antwerp as well as a support worker for children with disabilities.

Pia De la Motte, Dutch Language Teacher

Pia joined NAS Jakarta in August 2021. Originally from Antwerp, Belgium, Pia has worked as a primary school teacher in Antwerp as well as a support worker for children with disabilities. She also gained experience as a liaison figure between schools and parents. She has taken part in educational projects in Suriname, Europe and Sri Lanka. Bitten by the reading bug, and wanting to pass this on to the children, she took another course as a reading coach.

In her spare time, she likes to travel, experience new cultures, have dinner with family and friends, read a good book and take part in sporting activities.

Septiana Wahid
PE Teacher

Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, Septiana has worked as a PE teacher for over 15 years in several international schools teaching different curricula including IB, Cambridge and the English National Curriculum. Septiana joined NAS Jakarta in July 2017.

Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, Septiana has worked as a PE teacher for over 15 years in several international schools teaching different curricula including IB, Cambridge and the English National Curriculum. Septiana joined NAS Jakarta in July 2017. His studies include:

  • Master’s degree in Education Management from UKI, Jakarta 2018

During his teaching career, Septiana has taught Secondary PE at a number of schools in Jakarta as well as Primary PE and held the position of PE Coordinator at one of these schools.

 

Septiana is a former Wushu, Muaythai and MMA athlete. His interests include taking care of orphans and disadvantaged children at his Foundation, road trips with his family, running marathons and coaching Wushu, Muaythai and MMA.
