NAIS Manila’s Educators Join Global Leaders in UAE to Shape the Future of Teaching

NAIS Manila’s educators joined over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education schools at the SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Conference 2025, held in Abu Dhabi. The event brought together outstanding minds in education to explore leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion—key elements shaping the future of teaching and learning.

The three-day conference provided an invaluable platform for teachers from across the region to collaborate, share best practices, and gain fresh insights to bring back to their classrooms.

A transformative experience for NAIS Manila’s educators

The conference offered educators from NAIS Manila an opportunity to engage with peers, explore forward-thinking teaching strategies, and strengthen their approach to student learning.

 Wendy Spence Head of Secondary

"As always, the regional conference is a great opportunity to share ideas and best practice, but this year in particular, I felt an overt desire for us educators to focus on inclusive education and to really work to ensure that each and every student in our NAE schools is able to be themselves and to be supported on their individual journey. This is an exciting time in education! shared by Wendy Spence, Head of Secondary.

Head of Perming Arts Arvid Lorimer-Olsson

“My biggest takeaway from my first NAE Teaching and Learning Conference was the untapped potential for global collaborations within our organisation. Although leadership was this year’s theme, I was especially inspired by our executives’ genuine commitment to advancing education and by the pragmatic, innovative spirit of my colleagues. This experience will not only enrich my teaching and my students’ learning experiences but also motivate me to encourage other teachers to connect across schools and explore new opportunities together.” said Arv id Lorimer-Olsson.

Driving innovation in teaching and learning

Nord Anglia Education places continuous professional development at the heart of its strategy, ensuring educators have the tools and knowledge to enhance student learning. The conference explored AI in education, neurodiversity, inclusive leadership, and other key topics shaping the future of teaching.

The event also focused on Nord Anglia’s groundbreaking research into metacognition—helping students develop an awareness of their learning processes to improve problem-solving and critical thinking.

“Through leadership discussions at the conference, our academic teams explored how to apply Nord Anglia’s latest research on metacognition," said Rob Walls, Head of Middle East Schools at Nord Anglia. "By embedding metacognitive strategies in the classroom, we help students develop the skills to become independent, self-directed learners. In offering a forward-thinking education, we are supporting skills development with our Nord Anglia educational framework centred around the continuous growth of the 6 Cs—ensuring our students evolve into critical, creative, committed, and curious learners, while collaborating compassionately both in and outside the classroom."

Strengthening our global community

For NAIS Manila’s educators, the conference wasn’t just about professional development—it was also a chance to collaborate with peers from around the world and contribute to Nord Anglia’s global education community.

As a global family of schools, there are strong links across the SEAMEI Region. It was great to connect with so many dedicated and inspiring leaders. Whilst there were a number of excellent workshops, what stood out for me was the work that is being done in the metacognition research project,Nord Anglia really is leading the way in this area. said Chris Pooley, Principal of NAIS Manila.

The knowledge and strategies gained at the SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Conference 2025 will continue to shape learning experiences at NAIS Manila, ensuring that students benefit from the latest advancements in education.
