Our Key Stage 3 students study English, maths, science, geography, history, drama, music, art, graphic design, digital technology, and PE. They also choose two languages. This gives them a flavour of what it would be like to study each subject at IGCSE level, helping them to make their choices at the end of Year 9.
Subjects are taught by specialist teachers. They encourage active involvement and critical thinking, as well as independent learning. In each subject, for example, our teachers will support your child to assess their own work, identify areas for development, and establish clear goals. Our students are also taught to take educated risks, as making mistakes is a vital part of the learning process.
Project work is an essential component of our curriculum, too. Students work individually and in groups, developing important collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Our Key Stage 3 students take part in our Confident Speakers Programme, which enables them to speak publicly at least once per year. This could be at an assembly, presenting to school visitors, or at a Parents’ Forum.
