What's new with Global Campus Global Campus is a personalised online learning platform exclusively for all 68 Nord Anglia schools, where children can engage in activities and challenges.

Global Campus is a personalised online learning platform exclusively for all 68 Nord Anglia schools, where children can engage in activities and challenges.

I am the Global Campus Lead for NAIS Manila and have thoroughly enjoyed promoting competitions and challenges so far this year.

Global Campus is a wonderful addition to our core Virtual Schooling and is a unique platform for your child to tackle Global Challenges with the other Nord Anglia Schools across 29 countries.

Global Campus is now divided into six key areas, each with a different focus that ties in with our Global Goals and different areas of academic learning; STEAM, Social Impact, Writers Corner, Performing Arts, Expeditions and Health and Wellness

The challenges range from shorter one-star activities that take a few hours, to longer three-star projects that take a few weeks to complete. Teachers will also recommend challenges as well as assist and support students to get the most out of the extensive learning opportunities, over 100 challenges that are there for the children every day, all year round.

Over the course of the academic year so far the children have entered writing competitions, tackled coding challenges, created Rube Goldberg machines and discussed ideas for sustainable living within their communities. We are also taking part in the Global Sports Competition, competing against Nord Anglia children from all over the world.

Julliard, MIT, UNICEF

Due to our collaboration with these three global-leading institutions, each Nord Anglia partner is active in designing a set of one-of-a-kind activities that are unique to NAE every year. For example, this year, MIT has challenged NAIS Manila students to design objects and items to be used aboard the International Space Station and set tasks that look to the future as part of sustainable living in space, on the moon and even life on Mars. The children get to actively participate and partake in these discussions and can design items that MIT will be able to see, evaluate and give feedback on.

Juilliard and UNICEF also challenge our children with amazing activities, designed to promote Creativity, Courage, Collaboration, Critical thinking, Cultural awareness and Communication.

Badges

With the completion of each challenge, children will earn badges so that they can clearly see their achievements and contributions on Global Campus. The badge totals are calculated and a leader board of the Nord Anglia schools motivates students in a friendly, competitive manner.

With support from the academic team here at NAIS Manila, the children have excelled at the Global Campus challenges and currently sit comfortably in the Top 10 in the Nord Anglia rankings.

Global Campus Junior

Global Campus Junior is a brand new area for children under 8.  It allows the younger members of our community to experience the same opportunities that the older students are able to, but in a way that is tailored to their age and learning goals

Story Sacks

Story sacks are a key part of Global Campus Junior. They are a great place for children for Foundation Stage and Year 1 to engage with award-winning stories and amazing children’s books and to tackle activities and challenges based on these incredible texts. One of the texts looked at was ‘Elmer’ and the author David Mckee takes the time to read the book to the children of Nord Anglia. As you can see the children then have several challenges that correspond to the seven areas of early childhood development.

NAIS Manila has been praised within the Nord Anglia community for effectively using these stories to teach creatively and praised for the number of children in our school engaging with the Story Sacks.

Forest School

STEAM learning is a huge part of our curriculum and holds great value here at NAIS Manila. It begins for the junior learners in the Forest School Challenges, each week holds a new challenge from creating insect ecosystems to pine cone weather stations. Great outdoor activities for the children to engage with

Global Campus in the Secondary School

As well as a new area for the under 8’s, there is also a new section called Global Campus Senior. It contains challenges for children aged 14 and up, with projects and discussion on world issues with children from around the globe. A new preparation for university section also allows children the opportunity to explore that next stage in their academic journey

There is so much to look forward to leading up to Christmas.

We have the Lego and MIT Hacking Challenges that link with our STEAM learning, Virtual Musician of the year and dance construction challenges for the Performing Arts,

We will be working on Global Campus to celebrate World Children’s Day on November the 20th.

We also have on the horizon:

  • October 12th - Comic Book Competition
  • November 11th - Nord Anglia Taskmaster
  • November 11th - Reinvention Challenge
  • November 23rd - World Hello Day
  • December 8th - Time Traveller’s Day
  • December 15th - National Cupcake Day - YUM!

We have enjoyed wonderful success this half term, with views from our school reaching over 15,000 in one month and winning accolades for our school such as Best in Region

However, the thing that I get the most sense of pride over is the engagement of the children, the enthusiasm to tackle the activities and that they are getting the most out of everything that Global Campus has to offer.
