Dear parents,
I would like to begin this week’s Parent Update by giving my heartfelt and grateful thanks to all parents, students, staff, and friends of NAIS Hong Kong who came along on Saturday to support the PTA Summer Carnival, and for making the day such an outstanding success.
“Good Vibrations” across the school community
Towards the end of last week saw a significant increase in the already high levels of positive engagement across the entire school as everyone geared up to celebrate two key family events – PTA Summer Carnival and the Early Years Summer Showcase.
Despite the weather, our Sai Kung campus welcomed families to enjoy time together as a community to celebrate the achievements of our young learners. Our ground floor area was transformed into a highly desirable picnic spot, and a fabulous location to watch the fabulous performances including music, dance, song, and sporting prowess. In both group and individual activities each of the children showed what it means to be part of our wonderful Sai Kung Early Years community. Thank you to all parents for coming along and making the event so memorable.
Then along came Saturday. What could I possibly say here that will do justice to this event and encapsulate the vibrant energy that flowed throughout the Kwun Tong campus from the second our doors opened at 11am until they closed at 4.30pm. Amazing, fabulous, fantastic, incredible, stupendous…. No single adjective does the day justice!
I would like to particularly thank our dedicated and hard-working PTA Committee members and especially our PTA Executive Committee members Karen Au and Aimee Jefferson (Co-Chairs), Candace Law (Vice Chair), Tammy Tam (Treasurer), and Heather Chan (Secretary). I would also like to thank the many companies and organisations who came along to support us on the day, particularly our Silver sponsors, Chartwells Catering and Jacksons Bus Company; the hardworking Silver Jubilee 1800 Scout Group volunteers who also looked amazing in their uniforms; Sandy’s Kitchen and Apollon who provided a wealth of lovely food and drinks; and the volunteers from Sai Kung Stray Friends Association and their three adorable puppies; and all who donated Country Baskets for the secret auction, prizes for the raffle, baking for the Year stalls, prizes for the activity stalls and so much more. Lastly, a special thanks to all our staff (Academic, Admin, IT and Facilities) and our wonderful learners in all year groups, for your performances, energy, coordination, creativity, and support. Thank you.
I hope that everyone who attended had a fabulous time. At the heart of the event was a desire to raise funds to support the multitude of activities provided by our Parent Teacher Association, and I am confident that your contributions on the day will have helped exceed all expectations. I look forward to sharing with you the figure collected in next weeks update.
Looking ahead to International Day 2024
A topic that was mentioned by several parents on Saturday was NAIS Hong Kong’s International Day. In today’s update our Heads of School share with you each of the dates in June that this other highly anticipated school community event takes place in each campus. I know how much you look forward to these opportunities to support the school, and we very much look forward to them too! Please add the date to your diary, dust off your national dress, unfurl the flags and prepare to celebrate the wonderfully rich and diverse community that makes up Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong!
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead,
Kind regards,
Kenny Duncan
Principal
