This morning, some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils were fortunate enough to take part in a Hong Kong Maths Competition run by DBIS. We were one of 10 schools from all over Hong Kong participating in the morning which consisted of a Maths based Escape Room, poster competition and fun Kahoot Quiz.
The children also had to make their own presentation based on a question and explain their mathematical thinking to prove their answer. Clear and detailed reasoning is a key skill that children are encouraged to use in our daily Maths lessons at NAIS.
It was amazing to see the children using their fantastic collaboration skills to answers some very challenging questions. Our brains were definitely working overtime! They had to use many mathematical skills to answer the questions including working systematically, trail and improvement, visualising and logical reasoning. In Round 1, Team 4 had a special mention for answering all the questions correctly! Fantastic!
All of the children who took part were excellent role-models for our school and were fully engaged during the online tasks. They should be very proud of their achievements. Well done Year 5 & 6!
