Neurodiversity Week

Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity Week This week is Neurodiversity Week and students at NAISHK in Primary and Secondary have been learning about how we all think, learn and process information differently.

This week is Neurodiversity Week and students at NAISHK in Primary and Secondary have been learning about how we all think, learn and process information differently. Understanding our own cognitive process is an essential skill in learning development and more than 30% of the population is neurodivergent.

Our Head of Learning Support, Fay Ryder says "Supporting students understand their learning process and how they manage their study is a key role for my department. We are taking part in this celebration because we believe all children and young people can be ambitious. Some of the most successful people on the planet are neurodivergent – Albert Einstein was dyslexic, Daniel Radcliffe, dyspraxic, Will Smith has ADHD and Satoshi Tajiri, creator of Pokemon is Autistic. The world’s change makers are neuroatypical. I wish to give my students the confidence to create the paths that others follow, be the leaders, be proud of being different.”

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.
