Secondary Assembly
This morning’s discussion, led by Assistant Principal, Mr Bishop, focused on equality and perspective. Years 7 and 8 were shown an interesting video that compressed the world’s population into 100 people – and then showed what they would have. They looked at how many – and how few - people have shelter, water, education, and even, internet.
It was an opportunity for our students to reflect on how fortunate we are, and to look at what we can do to help. Click here for this interesting video.
International Day – 15 April – A message from Ms Khalik
“International Days are widely celebrated across our 42-strong family of Nord Anglia schools and are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our international student mix. Through the appreciation of traditions, language, costumes, food and games, we are all reminded of the wealth of commonalities and differences we have within our school.
Students are encouraged to celebrate their country or nationality by wearing traditional dress or the colours of their flag.
For International Day our students would like to show their support for our four House Charities (see below). Please can we ask each student to bring in a $10 (or more!) donation to support the great work of the charities that our students have chosen.”
Windsor - Heep Hong Society
Sandringham - Bring Me a Book
Balmoral - Changing Young Lives
Caernarfon - Feeding Hong Kong
Global Campus Challenge – Bucket Drumming!
Today, all our students joined a global ‘Bucket Drumming’ challenge. This project, which encourages the children to be creative, to persevere and to work as a team, will take place across our 42-schools this term. Please check Facebook and Firefly later today for photos.
ECAs & Late Buses
The sign-up for the ECAs has now closed and we are processing several thousand ECA requests! We are aiming to get your choices confirmed – and notification back to you – by Monday afternoon.
Once you know which days you’ll have ECAs, please remember to confirm how your child will get home on these days. You need to confirm Late Bus or Pick Up.
It really is so important that we know how your children are getting home for their security, and to ensure that we don’t hold up the Late Buses, while we double check individual students’ schedules.
Battle of the Books (BOB)
I’m sure that our BOB Team will be reading furiously this weekend as some last minute preparation for the Chinese Battle of the Books competitions next Tuesday. Good luck to our NAIS team!
Finally, good luck to all our students who are taking part in the Hong Kong Rugby 7s this weekend. I’m sure that a few parents and teachers will be cheering you on from the crowd!
