In today's Parent Workshop Mr Clive Leach - a world-renowned life-coach - led an inspiring and informative talk on “Resilient and Resourceful Young People – Learning how to Flourish”. As a life coach, he discussed about how important it is for children to “flourish” through encouraging positive emotions, high levels of engagement, optimism and self-esteem.
In their own session, Mr Leach asked our Year 7s to “think about yourself when you are at your best”. It was a question that got all our secondary students thinking and talking about what it means “to be your best”, and how we can focus on our character strengths to “flourish as young people”. Mr Leach also shared with the group a video which looked at character strength and virtues. Mr Leach certainly left all our Year 7s with a lot to think about, and we look forward to developing these ideas of Positive Education and Developing Strong Characteristics over the coming months.
Later, Mr Leach talked about Positive Education with our teachers. The focus for our educators was on how better to motivate and support our pupils to become resourceful young people.
