LAUNCHING OUR GLOBAL CLASSROOM
One of the truly unique aspects of our family of schools is our Global Classroom. Today we launched the Global Classroom among our Year 4 to 7 pupils. Please take the time to look at the attached letter from our Global Classroom Ambassador, David Robinson. All our children from Years 4 to 7 have brought home their Global Classroom Passport today. Please take the time to look through this letter – which includes Ten Things to Do in your Global Classroom – with your children. It really is an amazing network and resource for all our children here. I’m also including a link to our Global Classroom video, which gives a great introduction.

COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS
Our Countdown to Christmas has started! The children will be decorating their classrooms ready for 1 December – and earlier this week we had a visit from one of generous parents who has kindly offered to donate Christmas trees for the whole school. A huge thank you to Mike and Loretta Wu. We can’t wait to see our whole school enjoying the festive spirit.

There will be a lot going on during the last two weeks of school, so the last ECA will be on Thursday 4 December to allow the children more time to focus on their Christmas performances and House competitions. Please print out the attached Countdown to Christmas calendar, so that you know everything that is going on during these last two weeks. You can also check the school calendar online for updates.

STAR OF THE WEEK
Friday morning’s is our favourite time of the week. The whole school gathers to celebrate our Star of the Week. What we find so special about it is, is how much the other children support and celebrate the achievements of their classmates. This week we were recognising achievements and attitudes in drama. A huge congratulations to the following pupils:

Year 1: Arthur Au, Keira Lister, Audrey Marwood, Adrian Lau, Ellen Peters

Year 2: Rainie Wong, Eva Simmonds, Samuel Wong, Elijah Wong, Bella Smith

Year 3: Wing Wing Cheng, Ayla Heasman, Elena Carazzai, Charissa Kwok

Year 4: Evelyn Lee, Chloe Skovgaard, Chloe Vandeweghe

Year 5: Henrique Bastos, Austin Knowles, Sunny Li

Year 6: Riccardo Forzani, Anakin Lee

Year 7: Rebecca Chen, Valeria Kulik

UNIFORM
Mrs Harley has asked me to thank you all for the improvements in the pride that our pupils take in their uniform and appearance. Lots of beautifully neat and tied back hair and some very smart Year 7s in their winter blazers. Please keep it up. We do feel that it’s an important part of creating a strong community spirit and in us all taking pride in our school and in ourselves.

MEDICAL FORMS FOR TRIPS OUTSIDE SCHOOL
Our pupils are starting to take trips outside the school, so it’s very important to the latest medical information for every child. We do know that filling in a new form every time your child has a trip can be very annoying, so our forms are designed to avoid this. You fill it in once, send it back to the school (in your child’s bag, or drop off at the reception) and then each time we have a trip, you only have to quickly check that the details are still up-to-date and then re-sign. Each form has space for four trips. The forms will be going home in your child’s bag, but I’m also attaching a soft copy, just in case it gets lost on the way home!

LUNCH MENU – DECEMBER
The menu for December is available on our website. Please click here to view and download. You can return the completed form, along with payment, in your child’s school bag. Please mark your child’s name carefully.

CLASS BLOGS
I know that I keep reminding you to check the Class Blogs, but they are such a wonderful way of peeking into your child’s classroom. Remember the link is: http://year1nais.blogspot.hk/ (change the number in the link to match your year group).

PARENT WORKSHOP
Our Additional Support Needs (ASN) team will be hosting a coffee morning for parents on 27 November. It’s a great way to come in and meet our team of exceptional ASN teacher who are looking after the welfare of every child in the school. As our Head of ASN, Jane Henderson, reminds us; “every child, at some point in their school year, is going to need a little extra support”. It would be super if you could email Ricky – ricky@auyeung.nais.hk – to register so that we know how muffins to order!

Finally, a big thanks to you all for following our new Transport Communication arrangements. Letting us know as early as possible, and emailing bus@nais.hk and your child’s class teacher has made all the difference to getting the children onto their buses quickly and safely.
