The Middle Years Programme
The MYP, the most comprehensive Secondary school curriculum in Ireland, places a strong focus on developing values, skills and attitudes. This concept-based curriculum explores subject-specific content through six global contexts. The programme doesn’t just offer facts and knowledge, but rather a deep understanding of how to learn – and how to apply that learning.
Grades 6 - 8
In Grades 6 to 8 the focus is on laying the foundations for future study and honing skills in self-management, research, creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking. We offer all eight subject groups: Mathematics, Language and Literature, Science, Individuals and Societies, Design, Physical Health and Education, Arts, and Language Acquisition.
Grades 9 - 10
In Grades 9 and 10, students continue with the subject groups and their language choice and are encouraged to specialise in one branch of the arts, choosing either Music, Performing Arts or Visual Arts. Similarly, an additional Mathematics course is available, Extended Mathematics, for those students who wish to go deeper into this subject. In Grade 10, all students engage in the Personal Project, which gives them the opportunity to design and create a product, in which they have a personal interest and passion.
Service as action is a foundational element of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. Its goal is to develop caring members of the community who act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and their environment and we embrace this within the MYP curriculum.
The curriculum at Nord Anglia International School Dublin is ever-evolving and adapting to better suit the needs of our students and community to ensure optimal learning opportunities. We follow the framework and guidance from the International Baccalaureate and regularly review and update the curriculum according to best practice and research methodology.
