The new education magazine from Nord Anglia provides an extensive exploration of key facets of global education. It addresses a wide range of topics such as the influence on learning with technology and artificial intelligence, and envisions the future of education and wellbeing.

Chairman of Nord Anglia's Education Advisory Board, Lord David Puttnam, expressed his pride in unveiling the inaugural edition of INSIGHTS. Lord Puttnam emphasized its wealth of informative articles and qualified viewpoints, noting that Nord Anglia’s mission is to demystify the complexities of modern education and prepare students for life in a world under constant and rapid change.

Andy Puttock, Principal of La Côte International School, says: “It is exciting that this first edition has a focus on something we have believed and known for a long time, that happy learners make good learners. Research shows that being happy in school sets a foundation for top academic achievement and for the ever-changing future our children will experience.”

What's Covered?

The initial issue of INSIGHTS delves into several critical aspects around preparing the next generation for success in a rapidly evolving world:

  • "In Pursuit of Happiness" explores the vital role of emotional well-being in the lives of young learners. It underscores the significance of emotional well-being for long-term success, with experts stressing the most potent predictor of adult wellbeing is happiness. Happiness at the core of everything is at the forefront of our pastoral and educational approach at LCIS.
  • "The Fourth Education Revolution" challenges readers to consider artificial intelligence and the possibility that it can transform education. By offering personalised learning experiences, addressing issues like social inequality, improving student mental health, and reducing some teaching workload, AI has the potential to make huge improvements to the learning experience in our school.
  • "Life in the Skills Locker" highlights the importance of soft skills, advocating for a wide focus on learning and achievement. Future success, it argues, demands emotional intelligence and critical thinking. The world our young people live and work in demands critical thinking skills and an ability to change fast and develop personally to keep up with, or ahead of, progress. At LCIS we are progressively integrating STEAM and problem-solving projects to these ends, as well as using the International Baccalaureate and our own Learner profile to ensure these skill are actively and intentionally addressed.
  • "Knowledge is Power?" talks about the role of memorisation. Is rote learning relevant in our digital information-available age? The balance between having knowledge and possessing keen skills to adapt and to apply knowledge effectively and creatively is key.
  • "Social Purpose: Real World Value or Virtual Signalling?" asks what genuine social impact entails within a school. Gen Z possesses an innate interest in social and environmental causes, demanding meaningful student-led social enterprise.

In addition to its compelling articles, INSIGHTS serves as a platform for sharing the latest research findings, interviews with educational leaders, and opinion pieces on best practices in teaching and learning.
