English Teacher, Year 12 Form Tutor
Connor Wallace - Connor Wallace

I have always wanted to be a teacher. During my university vacations, I filled every possible moment by volunteering in schools to build up my experience. But, after graduating, I went straight into a purely pastoral role, as the Head of a boarding house. Boarding has greatly informed my practice and reinforced my belief that quality pastoral care is at the heart of supporting young people through school. Seeing students in a quasi-domestic setting also acts as a reminder of how pressurising and important this part of their life is.

Now, I am very excited to be pivoting back to the classroom and to be joining the fantastic team at ISM. I have lived in Moscow since 2020 and adore it. I left in March 2022, moving to Istanbul to write a novel. But, my heart has remained here in Moscow, and I am delighted to be back. I am especially keen to be back in the classroom and to take everything I learned in boarding with me. It is a very exciting time and I can't wait to get started.

And, before you ask, the novel is now on the sixth draft, but there is still considerable work to be done!
