On Thursday, 5th March, our students and staff at ISM Rosinka rolled out of bed and straight into school in their pyjamas! Why?

It was World Book Day 2020 and bedtime stories were on the menu. Inspired by the age-old tradition of bedtime reading, each student brought along their favourite bedtime story to share with their classmates to discuss and inspire future reading.

New characters and settings danced into the minds of all our young learners and have demonstrated the benefits of a story before bedtime.

As well as this, no great event would be complete without a souvenir! Therefore, each student spent time designing their own tie to showcase their favourite books, characters and story quotes.

A quick look in each classroom allowed for an amazing insight into the wide breadth of our students’ interests and prefered genres. With a student body as dynamic and enthused by the written word as ours, the world will soon be blessed with a host of new authors.

Finally, I would like to use this time to highlight that bedtime stories have been proven to have a range of benefits for children, such as: relieving anxiety, developing empathy, and they are proven to help both communication and cognitive skills. It is never too early or too late to incorporate bedtime stories into your nightly routine.
