On Friday the 15th of March, the International School of Moscow joined together to celebrate Red Nose Day and raise money for vulnerable people and communities in the world. The school hosted a range of fundraising events including bake sales, drawing competitions and lol-a-thon challenges. Students wore red noses, paid donations to come in non-uniform and bought raffle tickets for a chance to put a pie in the face of their teachers.
"Since 2015, we have celebrated all three Red Nose Days at The International School of Moscow. Red Nose Day in our school just keeps getting better and better. I would like to thank all of our students for embracing ‘Red Nose Day 2019’ and making so much money for people less fortunate than ourselves. Here’s to two years from now and Red Nose Day 2021!", said Principal Paul Keach.
At ISM Krylatskoe Lower Campus, the celebrations started right at the entrance with balloons, music and games. One of the main highlights was mannequin challenge videos, which brought much laughter and smiles. Lower Campus raised nearly 300,000 Rubles.
ISM Krylatskoe Upper Campus saw a lol-a-thon challenge with students telling their favourite jokes in front of everyone in the canteen and a competition to draw the best red nose.
"Red Nose Day 2019 was a great success in Krylatskaya Upper Primary! We raised over £1400 (about 120,000 rubles) for Comic Relief to help end poverty both internationally and in the United Kingdom and had a lot of fun. Many different activities took place throughout the day including our Bake the Difference sale, Splat the Teacher contest and non-uniform day. I am very much looking forward to our next Red Nose Day in 2021!", said Christopher Ralph, Krylatskaya Upper Campus’s Charity Coordinator.
At ISM Rosinka, the students took part in assemblies, bake sales and an ‘Open Mic Night’. A group of eight Year Six students performed a song to the whole school called ‘Mr Sandman’, raising 300 Euros. Over the course of the day, ISM Rosinka raised just over 220,000 Rubles.
"We would like to thank all of the students and staff for their enthusiasm and donations, to all of the parents for making the incredible Bake Sale happen, and a huge thanks to Ms Ustinova, Ms Fountain and Ms Khalembhakova for their help with the different events. The most important message shared with the students was for them to continue supporting people who are less fortunate than themselves. A key message we must all remember… Happy Red Nose Day!" said Chris Charlton, Head of Rosinka Campuses.
Red Nose Day is an extremely popular event in the United Kingdom that helps to raise life-changing money for the charity ‘Comic Relief’. Since it was launched in the United Kingdom in 1988, Red Nose Day has spread all over the world and motivated millions of people to do something funny for money. Currently, Comic Relief funds over 2,000 different projects, supporting poor children and people in need. We are extremely proud that our school could be a part of this valuable and life-changing work.
