Hinkson Football Tournament

Hinkson Football Tournament attracted a great variety of international schools for a football game of the season.

It was a cold Saturday morning in Southern Moscow when the ISM Lions (both girls and boys teams) met at the Hinkson Academy Football Tournament. Even though the weather was gloomy, nothing could dissuade the teams from giving a great account of themselves. Tournaments such as this one do not come around very often so this was a splendid opportunity for ISM students to not only sharpen their football skills, but demonstrate unwavering resolve.

Students from both KS4 and 5 gallantly competed against some of the best schools in the Moscow region. The Lionesses were the team of the tournament, getting three draws against different semi-professional teams. Their hard working ethic ensured that they were able to compete against the very best, while demonstrating a high level of endurance, teamwork and thirst for victory.

The Lions were one of the pre-tournament favourites. However, they lost two games and drew one. The team never quite got into gear and were left with a long off-season thinking about what could have been.

However, the Lionesses, roared on by their coaches, were the pick of the tournament. The girls came up against tough opposition and matched them on every occasion. The girls should be proud of their efforts and the tournament was a big step in the right direction for this ever-improving team. Well done, girls!
