A Little Bit of Genius is Nord Anglia’s exciting new podcast series. There are seven episodes in our first series, each with two students interviewing a special guest on the theme of creativity in learning, in the workplace and in life in general.

Series 1

Episode 1: Daniel Gilbert

Daniel Gilbert is the CEO of Brainlabs, a digital agency that is ranked by the Financial Times as one of Europe’s fastest growing companies.

Billy Tan is one of the world's top comic book illustrators. He has drawn for Marvel and DC who now owns his own comic publishing company called Tan Comics.

Ebbe Sand is a retired Danish international footballer whose achievements include scoring the fastest goal by a substitute in a World Cup in just 16 seconds.

Episode 8: Nord Anglia Parents and Colleagues

Our guests talk about how they are balancing working from home and supporting the virtual schooling needs of their children. Our guests in this special episode are two staff members from Collège du Léman, a Nord Anglia Education boarding and day school in Switzerland. Pauline Nord is the Director General at Collège du Léman, and Rob Breare is the school's Director of Admissions & Marketing.

Series 2

Episode 1: Bertrand Piccard

On this episode of A Little Bit of Genius, hear from Bertrand Piccard, a record-breaking explorer and balloonist from Switzerland. Bertrand is a Nord Anglia Education alumnus from Collège Champittet and is famous for being the first person to circumnavigate the globe non-stop in a hot air balloon. He also completed the first round-the-world solar flight in history! Bertrand speaks with student hosts Amber and Alex from Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam about a range of topics, including his inspirations, his work to protect the environment, and how he was able to stay resilient during all his awe-inspiring adventures around the world.

Episode 2: Ashley De La Rosa

Our second series of A Little Bit of Genius continues with this episode featuring Ashley De La Rosa, a professional Broadway actress, singer and dancer who has starred in popular shows such as Hamilton, Rent and Mean Girls. This episode also touches on the ways that Ashley has been active in several social justice causes in her local community, including her work to help people vote in the US General Election. An alumni of Windermere Preparatory School in Florida, Ashley is interviewed by two current Windermere students named Michael and Emma who are both passionate about theatre.

Episode 3: Santiago Lange

Hear from Santiago Lange, a four-time World Champion sailor who won gold in the 2016 Olympics (and two bronze medals previously). Santiago was “Sailor of the Year” in 2016 after surviving lung cancer. In this episode, Santiago speaks with two Nord Anglia Education students from Collège du Léman, Ella and Anthony, who are involved in their school’s sailing club and passionate about the sport.

Episode 4: Sir Tim Smit

On this episode of the podcast, hear from Sir Tim Smit, the co-founder of the Eden Project — an indoor botanical garden in Cornwall, UK. Sir Tim’s biome has been hailed as the "world's largest indoor rainforest". As an advocate of green living and sustainability projects, he is also working on new biomes and eco-schemes in every continent on the Earth. In this episode he is interviewed by Ailbhe and Daniel, two students from Nord Anglia International School Dublin.

Episode 5: Zahra Abdalla

Grab a tasty snack and tune in to this episode of A Little Bit of Genius featuring Zahra Abdalla, a professional food blogger, content creator, TV host, restaurant owner, and all-around food lover. Zahra is well known thanks to her popular Instagram account @cookingwithzahra featuring her many cooking creations. Hosted by two IB students named Isabella and Ghida, from Collège du Léman in Switzerland, Zahra talks about her absolute favourite types of food to cook and how her mixed heritage has inspired her work. This episode is filled with lots of inspiration from Zahra about food, her successful career and her life. To her, “food is just a medium to be able to talk about so many other issues, but in subtle ways."

Episode 6: Marlon Devonish

Marlon Devonish is a British Olympic sprinter who won gold in the 4 x 100 metres in 2004. Following almost two decades as a professional athlete, Marlon is now an Elite Performance Coach at the British International School of Shanghai, Puxi. In this episode Amber and Alex, secondary school students from Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam, talk to him about the resilience needed to achieve your goals.

Episode 7: Jemma Rix

Jemma Rix is a world-record ocean rower who rowed across the Atlantic with her rowing partner in just 50 days. Together they hold the record for fastest female duo. She has also since started her own company called Activeat focused on healthy foods. She is interviewed in this episode by Aidan and Grace, secondary students from Nord Anglia International School Dublin, about her rowing experiences and the resilience it took.

Episode 8: Camille Zamora and Monica Yunus, opera singers

The last episode of Series 2 is here, and we’re ending on a high note! Camille Zamora and Monica Yunus, professional opera singers from the United States, chat with our students about their music-based charity called Sing For Hope and the ins and outs (and highs and lows!) of the opera life. Our student hosts this week are Zosia and Sonia who are both on the IB student leadership group at the British School of Warsaw.
