Dear Parents,
As the outdoor temperature is gradually increasing, we continue to fire on all cylinders at the Gharaffa campus.
This week, we celebrated further success as the Girls’ Basketball team brought home another medal for the school. The team played exceptionally well in what proved to be a tough competition. Well done to all our talented girls! We acknowledged the girls’ success in Thursday’s assembly where they had the opportunity to display their medals. Following on from this, the PE teachers distributed sports kits to the school’s BISQ Games representatives. The athletes will be competing against 14 other schools in the competition which begins on Thursday. Good luck to all our athletes.
3C, led by Mr James and supported by Ms Amin shared their International Primary Curriculum ‘Chocolate’ learning in Thursday’s assembly. The students confidently shared their understanding in an excellent showcase which was enhanced even further with singing, art work and dancing. Well done to the 3C team for delivering an exceptional, interesting assembly.
The school is looking forward to Maths Day this week when we are asking all our children to wear Maths themed t-shirts. Ms. McGettigan has organised some excellent activities which will further encourage our children to gain confidence in their ability as mathematicians. The activities include an estimation station where the children will be asked how many balloons are in a room, a shape hunt, numerous measuring activities and graph work. We are very much looking forward to exercising our brains.
Last week we practised our termly fire drill. I’m pleased to announce that all our children were evacuated from the buildings quietly and calmly in a record time.
Saturday’s Dutch Community Activities day was once again a great success. The team, led by Ms Mansveld, always host an exciting, energetic event filled with colour. This year, the event was further enhanced by additional activities including hockey, wrestling, kick-boxing and Zumba. It was wonderful to welcome the Dutch Ambassador to Qatar, Frederique de Man. We hope our Dutch community enjoyed the morning.
We are now counting down the days until the school’s annual production is showcased to the school. This year’s play is called ‘Charlie’ and the play is linked to the famous Roald Dahl, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ story. Behind the scenes, staff are working hard to prepare a backdrop and props. Once again, we have a wonderful team of dedicated staff who are working hard to ensure that the play is a phenomenal success. The team is led by Ms Stenburge who is also directing the play. We are all very much looking forward to watching the production next week. Good luck, or should I say, break a leg!
Enjoy the week.
