Global Campus | Ask the Artist
We are delighted to announce a new student interactive activity on the Global Campus Online called “Ask the Artist”. It is an opportunity for our students to engage with The Juilliard School’s Alumni who have chosen the performing arts as a career and gain a greater understanding of their art, training, career and experience.
“Ask the Artist” is an opportunity for you to ask questions of Juilliard Artists who have chosen the Performing Arts as a career. We’re pleased to introduce you to Juilliard alumna and multiple Grammy winning mezzo-soprano, Isabel Leonard.
Please read Isabel’s bio, listen to and watch her perform, and then post questions on the wall that you’d love for her to answer by posting on the padlet at the bottom of the page.
You can ask her anything you’re curious about, including questions about her practice routines and vocal exercises, motivation or inspiration, experiences performing on the world’s leading operatic stages, strategies for embodying different characters (and genders), other types of music she performs, her involvement with charities and foundations, or other curiosities that come to mind.
Ask the Artist Instructions:
1. Read the Artist’s biography
2. Watch examples of the Artist’s work
3. Post a question you’d like the artist to answer by Monday, 7 May (don’t forget to add your full name, age and school on the padlet). You can ask more than one question.
4. Check back on Tuesday, 5 June to see if your question has been answered by the Artist on video.
Feel free to post as many questions as you like. Isabel will read your questions and answer a selected number by video. Please check back from Tuesday, 5 June to see if she has answered your question.
