Dear Parents,
Music and Maths are the two main items on the Gharaffa agenda this week.
Jessica Meyer flew in from New York last weekend in order to work alongside Jeremy Mannings our Music teacher. Jessica delivered music workshops throughout the day which culminated in a 1D parent music class. We hope the children enjoyed the Julliard music and performing arts experience. Also yesterday, our school choir travelled to Katara to participate in the Qatar National Music competition. Our choir performed exceptionally well - placing 3rd! Bravo!
Today, Tuesday and Wednesday the school is hosting Maths Workshops for parents. Year 1 and Year 2 parents congregated in the hall today to participate in some hands on activities which will enable parents to further support their child at home. We will be hosting parents from Year 3 and Year 4 tomorrow and Year 5 and Year 6 Wednesday. All workshops take place at 7.30am.
Last week, we had a great turn out at our first Friends of Compass School (FCS) meeting. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to attend this event. Plans are now underway for the school’s first FCS Family Picnic Breakfast and Table Top sale which will take place on Friday, 10 November. Please see the letter which was sent out from the school yesterday for further information.
Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to support our international week. Please contact your Class Representative, Paula Duarte or Helen Stevenson if you are available to help out during our International Week, beginning Sunday, 12 November. This year, the children will have the opportunity to visit different countries around the globe, in order to immerse themselves in culture and traditions. Ideally, we need as many parents as possible to help us create authentic experiences for our children. I hope that you are able to dedicate a short amount of time to this important week. A reminder that children will need to wear National Dress for the parade which will be held on 12 November. Please enjoy a few photos from last year.
Could I please remind parents to sign up for Parent Teacher Consultations this week. These take place from 2pm to 6pm next Monday, 23 October. I would also encourage parents to sign up to meet with our Specialist (Music, PE, Arabic) Teachers. Sign-up sheets for specialists are located in the school reception area. It is important that parents are given a full picture of their child’s progress in all subjects.
Parents, if you are looking for a two day job share in Early Years could you please send your Curriculum Vitae to the school (recruitment.cisd@nais.qa) as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Karen Wilson
