CIS International Accreditation is a rigorous school-wide evaluative process that measures alignment with internationally benchmarked standards and provides guidance for continuous improvement. CIS International Accreditation is recognised by ministries, departments of education, and universities worldwide, demonstrating a school’s commitment to high-quality international education and is a mark of quality-assurance.
Every five years, BVIS Hanoi is re-evaluated by CIS/WASC. This year, BVIS Hanoi was delighted to welcome an experienced group of CIS/WASC evaluators to school in April. They spent a whole week in school observing lessons, looking at academic results, speaking with staff, students and parents and checking the leadership and management of the school.
Through their achievement of these standards, CIS-Accredited schools have been verified as delivering high-quality international education focused on the development of knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to prepare students as global citizens.
As well as approving the reaccreditation status, they also issued the school with 33 commendations across many areas of the school, an incredible achievement and one we are all very proud of.
They also provided a detailed report and a final summary to the school. We would like to share with you their final comments:
“The British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) Hanoi embarked on a comprehensive self-study for reaccreditation. The preparatory phase, led by the Senior Leadership Team, paved the way for a cohesive report, reflecting a unified voice and a deep examination of the school's alignment with its mission and vision, engaging the entire school staff initially and then refining participation to ensure a focused approach. By organising into groups and involving stakeholders through surveys and meetings, the school embraced inclusivity, which can be expanded in the future to include students and parents on domain committees. This process reaffirmed the continuing relevance of the school's foundational principles while identifying more effective ways to communicate them, especially to students. Insights gained through the self-study process emphasized the strength of BVIS in global citizenship and well-being, alongside a commitment to continuously refine teaching and learning practices. Guided by its statements, the school recognized the importance of aligning operations and educational strategies with its core values, setting a path for sustainable improvement and adherence to its mission and vision.
BVIS stands out as an example of a unique bilingual school starting with two-year olds through A levels. It is committed, through its purpose and direction, to providing outstanding educational experiences with excellent teachers, a focus on well-being, and personalised learning initiatives, all geared towards preparing each child to excel academically and thrive as a confident global citizen. At BVIS, they celebrate the individuality of every child and pave the way for their brightest futures against the four CIS drivers.
BVIS embodies a commitment to fostering an educational environment where students are not just learners but proactive contributors to their own futures and leaders in the global community. The school's dedication to providing a bilingual education that merges the rigorous expectations of British and international standards with the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture ensures that students emerge as well-rounded individuals, equipped with the linguistic flexibility and cultural fluency to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
BVIS has innovative partnerships with global institutions like The Juilliard School, UNICEF, and MIT that demonstrates an enterprising spirit. These collaborations are not merely academic enhancements but pivotal experiences that broaden students' horizons, encouraging them to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace challenges with confidence and creativity. The school’s mission and vision guides not only the conduct of its students but also the pedagogical principles that underpin the school's approach to education. By emphasising the importance of personal responsibility, integrity, ethical conduct, and respect for others, BVIS ensures that its students grow not only in knowledge and skills but also in character. This commitment to moral education is evident as one walks through the halls, visits classrooms, and greets students. BVIS cultivates an empathetic environment where every student feels valued and respected. The programme is designed to meet the needs of the student body. There is a focus on well-being that ensures that each student's educational journey is tailored to their individual strengths, interests, and aspirations.” CIS/WASC Evaluator comments May 2024.
“The standards for CIS/WASC are exceptionally high, so I am delighted that not only did we pass but also received such high praise. I know BVIS offers an outstanding school experience for your children, this independent validation should give you even more confidence that what we are doing and achieving here at BVIS is of the highest international standards and is ensuring the best experience for your children at all levels across the school.” shared Paul Holyome, School Principal.
Join us in congratulating the staff, the students and the whole community for such an impressive result.
