Last night I had the pleasure of attending the IGCSE certificate presentation evening. A wonderful event celebrating the best ever results for our GCSE students from last year.
More photos will be shared on the school official fanpage and website shortly next week.
On Monday we had a fantastic day celebrating Vietnam Teacher’s Day and World Children’s Day. The school had such an amazing atmosphere and it was a delight to see.

We still have lots of activities and events left for the last few weeks of term and promises to be a really great end to the first term.
Recently we sent each family a small token of our appreciation for your continued support for the school it is greatly appreciated.
BVIS Global Perspectives
The Early Years children come to school every day knowing it’s a happy place to play and explore. As parents, you know that your children are learning and developing skills for life. Our Dojo Monsters help the children to not only understand their emotions, feelings and behaviours but also how to support the BVIS Global Perspectives. This week, Caring Cary, was a celebrated Dojo Monster for the children and the parents too. Thank you parents for celebrating Teacher’s Day and Children’s Day with us, by showing kindness, love and care. Parent collaboration is so important between school and BVIS families. Thank you to Dr Uyen for sharing your time, knowledge and medical skills with the F2 children this week.
How to be a good friend
Over the past week the children in Year 1 joined the rest of the school in focusing on Anti-Bullying. During the week, the children learnt about what bullying is and how to be a good friend. Through many activities, Year 1 focused on social and physical bullying ensuing they used kind words, safe hands and included everyone during play.
Working with different ages
It was wonderful to see Year 2 and Year 5 classes linking up and working so well together. The Year 5 students were incredibly nurturing and the Year 2 students confident and inquisitive.
Story telling
Year 2 continue to go from strength to strength in learning English through story telling. They particularly enjoy retelling stories from memory – with their eyes closed! (The ‘Eyes closed story challenge!’)
Building relationships
Year 3 and Year 6 students meet to discuss making good friends, they have a chance to build relationships. By sharing experiences, listening, and collaborating, they develop social skills, empathy, and create a supportive community.
School Values: Caring and Cooperation – Being a good friend and developing teamwork
Years 4 and Year 1 had a fantastic time working together. They discussed what it means to be a good friend and designed Anti-Bullying posters. Year 4 also developed their teamwork skills through a various activities. They discussed some situations on how to help if someone is being bullied and role played them.
Collective artwork
Year 5 ended Friendship Week by contributing their thumbprints to a lovely collective artwork – every student in the school helped to make these beautiful heart canvases really unique.
World Children’s Day
Year 6 began celebrating World Children’s Day with more partnered activities. The students were really happy to return to Y3 and read some books together. The older students helped the younger ones, and everyone had a good time enjoying the library. They finished the reading together, and then the pairs designed posters about the books they had been reading, or on the theme of friendship. Some really nice artwork was made!
School value CARING and RESPECT
Our events committee organised such a super tribute to celebrate Teachers’ Day, whilst also exercising their entrepreneurial skills to make some money! The teachers had a fabulous day, a massive thank you to all the students and parents for their kind wishes and flowers
School value GLOBAL CITIZEN and ENQUIRY
Some of our students in Year 10 signed up to take part in the Cambridge Upper Secondary Science Competition. After a lot of hard work and many lunch time sessions throughout term one, they have finally completed their write ups. The competition challenged to devise a unique investigation that they would test and write up independently. Once they submitted their write up, each group had to prepare a presentation showcasing their experiment, results and challenges. They both did fantastically (writing over five thousand words each), a testament to their spirit of inquiry and scholarly commitment.

School value GLOBAL CITIZEN and ENQUIRY
Students from BVIS bravely entered the Model United Nations den held at BIS Hanoi to engage, debate and sometimes provoke their fellow peers to successfully write new policies that would affect our world. MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country.
We had a vast array of differing countries from North Korea to United States of America, China to Rwanda being represented by our students and they argued and defended themselves to these country's identities, beliefs and policies. Students were challenged to come to a consensus with other countries to write new policies on topics such as Nuclear Disarmament, Capital Punishment and the Protection of Women's Rights in the Israel-Palestine conflict. BVIS students matched their counterparts who had travelled from all over Asia and held their own in debates and showed themselves to be very component diplomats. BVIS also had two notable successes in the Ta Huu Quang won Outstanding Delegate in his Conference and Le Tran Khanh Dan winning Best Delegate (this is the highest award at a MUN event).
We are very proud of all students who participated and would love to see more MUN enthusiasts in the future at BVIS so why not come and speak to us and get involved in future conferences.
