What a wonderful way to finish the week last week with many celebrations in school for the Full Moon Festival. Please look back the happy moments as below:
We have been doing much work recently to get your views and opinions as parents as we continue to strive to further improve everything that we do here at BVIS. Thank you all for your continued feedback and support it is greatly appreciated.
The outdoor area of the new Sixth Form Centre is almost complete and this is another excellent addition to the school premises and a further space for students to relax when the weather is nice.
Thank you to premises staff, guards and cleaners I know you will join me in thanking our premises staff, guards and cleaners. They were outside the school in some terrible weathers last week for many hours helping families when they arrived at school. We are very proud of them all.
We continue to have many universities wish to come and speak with our students. Every week we receive many universities to the school on behalf of the students. I am also delighted to say that we have many applications to top universities across the world this year including Oxbridge and IVY league and we wish all our students the very best of luck with their applications.

Our Moon Festival celebration was a perfect example of what being a global citizen with a Vietnamese perspective means at BVIS. The children and staff, from Vietnam and from further afield were united in the joyful celebration, donning beautiful Ao Dai and enjoying the music, dance, art and traditional crafts that featured in this very special day.
One moment that made me smile was seeing British teacher and Head of Y5, Mr Phil, on the guitar accompanying all the children singing beautifully in Vietnamese.
Another thing that gave me great pleasure was the exceptionally high attendance at the event by parents and grandparents. It was a joy for me to move around every class in the school and see so many families joining in as one community together. The variety of activities across year groups was interesting too.
The Early Years Centre was an array of colour, songs and celebration during the Moon Festival. Celebrations are an important part of culture and heritage and help children to understand their identity and belonging.
Year 1 had a lot of fun participating in different Moon festival activities last week. The children were very lucky to have students from Year 13 visit. They listened to a story about the festival then made some lovely lanterns and masks. All of the children had a great time working with older students.
Year 2 parents were excited to see the children perform in the hall and share with their parents their great dancing and singing last week. There were many lanterns made by collaboration between parents and children.
Year 5 worked very hard to put on their Moon Festival performance. There was dancing, acting and singing. After the assembly, parents and children enjoyed making traditional masks. We had a great Mid-Autumn festival at BVIS this year. A huge thank you to the parents who came to celebrate with us.
Year 8 have really enjoyed performing their versions of the opening of Macbeth in English. They considered the effects that Shakespeare wanted to create, and how they could use props, costumes, lighting, sounds, actions and their voices to create these effects for their classmates.
Year 9's presenting to the class on key parts of a Digital Society including:1. Connectivity and access to the internet 2. Digital Literacy and skills 3. Data and information management 4. Digital Communication 5. Technology - Some very thorough presentations - we just need to work on the confidence in presenting to a class.
Year 10 IGCSE further developed their skills of different media by using coffee to create tone.
First fixtures of the year for KS3 basketball – boys and girls. Teams competed against very well organised and competitive teams from UNIS. Both teams did well but were beaten when the final buzzer sounded. Work rate, perseverance and attitude were first rate from BVIS students and we are proud of the character that they showed.
Year 7 Handball
Year 7 enjoyed their skills lesson through the sport of handball.
At BVIS we ensure that our students have access to the best universities across the world so that they can make informed choices about their future careers. We provide many opportunities for students to interact with university admissions staff. Year 12 and 13 attended and advice session run by the admissions team at Yonsei University, South Korea. They were able to get advice and guidance on applications and entry requirements.
They were also able to get further advice and support from Milwaukee College of Engineering, USA.
Imperial College London held a workshop for our students on their personal statement and applying for UK universities.
Our year 8 EAL students have settled into their library routine really well and have chosen appropriate books to read this term. They've also been really well-engaged in listening lessons. Here's The Vinh with the wordlist he created from his chosen library book.
