Welcome to BVIS Secondary Update
In Humanities
In Year 7 Humanities are learning about Health and Medicine in the Medieval times. They have been learning about some weird and wacky methods to heal people that wouldn’t be recommended these days!
In Year 9 Humanities, students have started a new topic on Natural Hazards. Students are learning about how hazards are caused and the differences between them. Next up we will be looking at earthquakes and the recent earthquake event in Turkey and Syria. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected.
In Global Perspectives
In Year 11 Global Perspectives, students have been learning about different modes of transports and their advantages and disadvantages. They have enjoyed planning Hanoi’s transport and infrastructure future with some very interesting and ambitious projects, including new train lines, underground system, and bus routes!
School library is running a Book Review competition.
Deadline: Friday, February 17th, 2023
We hope all students get involved and send their entries by the deadline.
In History
I was really impressed with both 9B and 9S this week in their learning of how Hitler was able to rise to power in Germany. All students showed massive engagement and really started to develop links between the variety of causes.
DoE
Furthermore, this week, the DofE students have begun volunteering in Primary ECAs in order to achieve their DofE Bronze Award. It’s great to see how well the older students interact with the younger ones and I am proud of their commitment to supporting and nurturing the younger BVIS students.
Prefect and Head Students
There have been a great group of Year 12 students interviewing to be the new Prefects and Head Students. They will be starting from Term 3.
