Le Chauffage Concert - Love is not about waiting! The 800 seats in the Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music were almost filled to capacity on Saturday evening January 5th, contrary to the organisers’ initial expectation of only 400 attendees.

In our busy lives, overwhelming pressures mean that we can often put off taking action. Not so for two talented musicians, seeking to raise awareness and funds for the medical treatment of their school friend.  And so the idea of the Le Chauffage Concert came into being.

The 800 seats in the Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music were almost filled to capacity on Saturday evening January 5th, contrary to the organisers’ initial expectation of only 400 attendees. The audiences came to Le Chauffage Concert not only to hear two high performing artists, sibling musicians, pianist Tran Le Bao Quyen and violinist Tran Le Quang Tien.  They also came to express their sympathy and support for Anna (Do Hanh An , the British Vietnamese International School alumna 2013-18) who in Singapore has been fighting against Leukemia.

Quang Tien and Anna were schoolmates at BVIS Hanoi. Anna’s brave battle against cancer started when she was 18, and has been ongoing for more than 18 months. No matter how hard the battle seems, her family and friends have always been inspired by her shining smile and energy for life. More than anyone, Anna only too well seems to understand the value of life and how it should be treasured. Anna’s story became a powerful motivating force, encouraging Quang Tien, and his sister, Bao Quyen, to create something truly meaningful.

Limited preparation time, only 2 months in total, could not prevent Le Chauffage Concert from impressing all members of the audience with its musical quality and its compassion, each piece selected to convey deep meaning. It’s unusual to find a classical concert that attracts as many young people as Le Chauffage did. Proceeds from the concert were transferred right after the concert to the Give Asia portal to support treatment costs for Anna and for two further patients suffering from kidney conditions.

We extend special thanks to Ms. Xuan Ha, mother to Bao Quyen and Quang Tien, for her contribution to the success of the concert. She has always been a huge supporter of the school and of the dreams and aspirations for her musical children.

Last but not least, we really appreciate the significant role of the Ấm Student Charity Foundation. The passion of these young people was felt powerfully at every stage of the organisation process with the hope of inspiring and encouraging people to share and get involved.

It was an honour for BVIS Hanoi to contribute in part to the success of the concert, connecting our students, our parents, and all those concerned to join hands in helping Anna. We are proud of the true friendship and the sincere compassion developing amongst our students. We are also deeply grateful to our parents for their support for the concert, as well as for Anna, in her time of need.

We believe that Le Chauffage will not only be remembered for its professional quality, but also for its inspiration and love that were shared with the audience.

All support for Anna is still welcome. Financial contribution can be transferred directly to https://give.asia/campaign/anna-journey-to-live.  Love is not about waiting!
