This past week has seen the annual South East Asia Regional Conference, excellently hosted by Regents’ International School, Pattaya, Thailand. All of the 12 schools from the region were represented by senior staff from schools, the Regional Office and from the Central Nord Anglia Office, by middle leaders and teaching staff from whom there was an impressive array of excellent presentations.
The theme of the conference was Inclusion, looking at the way that schools are able to support all students in their learning journeys. It focused around Learning and Language Support, the use of technology to enhance learning, and showcased some of the outstanding work that is being done in individual schools so that all schools and teaching teams can benefit from the practices elsewhere. Time was also given over to the Director of Education to hear of the principle themes and reunite all school together in aligning practice behind the key messages of Nord Anglia – that children deserve the best education and together as one team with one vision, this is being achieved in many great schools throughout the region.
It was a great pleasure too to share time with other principals from the region, in informal discussion but also in the key task of ensuring that our schools are the safest places physically and emotionally for all students to thrive. This element of Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Child/Staff Well-being is a critical element in the success of any school. Much work goes on behind the scenes and is largely unseen by students, parents and teaching staff, but it forms an essential foundation for successful outcomes for children studying in our schools. It is very much a statement of the commitment of all of our regional schools to ensure that we provide the very best environment, day in, day out.
