We have thoroughly enjoyed this week and our two ‘Meet the Teacher’ events were a complete success. Our EYFS event on Tuesday, and the Primary event on Wednesday, clearly demonstrated what we are trying to achieve in our partnership with you. Our schools are open and honest, have very high quality staff, both teaching and non-teaching, and we want you to be a big part of your child’s education and development as an independent successful global citizen. Talking with many of you on those occasions, it was obvious how happy your children are and how well supported by our teachers they feel. You had some good questions, as always, and we will always endeavour to improve where we can whilst always maintaining our high standards of care, safety, and education for your children.
Thank you to the many parents who attended. We hope it gave you the information you wanted and also the ability to meet other parents and make more connections for yourselves and your children. The more we collaborate and share, the better the experiences for everyone. This will also be a focus for our sustainable community and charity development this year, about which we are very excited and in which we know you want to be involved.
Progress of your children academically is obviously one of the common questions we are asked. At the end of the last academic year, we tracked a group of the Year 6 children, who had been with us for 3 years, and the progress they had made since being with the school. In our assessment presentations, you are always told the magic expected progress is six points. (For new parents this will happen in October) The lowest average, in both English and Vietnamese reading, writing, speaking and listening and also maths, for this group of children was 9 points. In some subjects it was as much as 12, doubling the expected average progress. This is incredible! We always state that for any quality learning to become embedded, especially in language and literacy, takes time, years in fact. These figures show just how well your children do over time, learning with us; so be patient - they learn very well. If you read about the school’s outstanding IGCSE results last week, imagine what these children, and your children, will achieve after a further six or more years with us. There really is no limit to the possibilities and our ambitions for them.
