This week the boys and girls Key Stage 3 Volleyball teams were again in action.
It was the first game of the season for both our teams and there was a nervousness in the air, particularly as we were playing against a school that has dominated many of the sports in Hanoi, UNIS.
The boys started slowly and lost the first game by a considerable margin. This could have been predicted given that this was their first game and they had not played volleyball for almost 3 weeks due to the Easter break. As time passed, they found their rhythm. The team came together, worked hard for each other and won crucial points. The result finished with BVIS winning the match 2 games to 1, an excellent display for their first match. They showed perseverance and character to come back from a game down.
The girls game was a different story. The girls team had a dominant performance from the start of the first game to the end of the fourth. They showed excellent teamwork and camaraderie, as well as consistency, in their skill set and on point decision-making. They were modest in their victory and truly a pleasure to coach. The result was a convincing 4-0 win over a tough opposition.
Well done to both teams. This is by no means an accident; this is the product of hard work and a fantastic attitude to learn.
