The Maths Department had another first this year.
November 5th 2015 saw the first entries in the Senior Maths Challenge, a worldwide competition ran by the United Kingdom Mathematical Trust. The challenge is designed to challenge students’ thinking and problem-solving skills as well as their knowledge of Maths. These are essential skills that translate into real life problems and situations.
The challenge is usually taken by students in Years 12 and 13, but ten of our Year 11 students sat it this year. Seven students were awarded either a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate, which in itself is an amazing achievement considering the level of Maths and English required to understand the questions.
Congratulations to the ten students who took part. They have indeed set the bar high for subsequent years to aim for.
