We wanted some of our older students to form relationships and new friendships with the children that have started at BVIS this year. This has worked a treat and it has been great to see new friendships being made!
Secondly we wanted our students to see, first hand, different conservation techniques that are in operation in Vietnam's first national park.
On Tuesday the children had a leisurely trek through the forest looking at the flora. Our very knowledgable guides explained the different types of vegetation that exists there. In the afternoon the students got the opportunity to visit the endangered primate rescue centre (EPRC) to look at the lorises and pangolins being looked after there.
On Wednesday the students had a very busy day spending time with the gibbons in the EPRC, visiting the turtle sanctuary and looking at the plants in the botanical gardens. In the evening there were games and drama activities to take part in.
On Thursday the students had a tiring 3 hour trek to look at the 1000yr old ancient tree. In the afternoon the children were able to visit the prehistoric cave and design a logo to promote the EPRC back at school.
Overall this has been a very successful trip. The children have bonded extremely well and lots of new relationships have been formed. The staff have also really enjoyed spending time with the students and now know them much better which will help back at school after half term. Well done to Year 7 for being enthusiastic and cooperative this week. Mr Stanier is a very happy trip leader indeed!
