The British School Yangon Educators Join Global Leaders in the UAE to Shape the Future of Teaching

Teaching and Learning Conference - TL conference

Educators from The British School Yangon joined over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education schools at the SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Conference 2025, held in Abu Dhabi. The event brought together outstanding minds in education to explore leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion—key elements shaping the future of teaching and learning.

The three-day conference provided an invaluable platform for teachers from across the region to collaborate, share best practices, and gain fresh insights to bring back to their classrooms.

A transformative experience for The British School Yangon educators

The conference offered educators from The British School Yangon an opportunity to engage with peers, explore forward-thinking teaching strategies, and strengthen their approach to student learning.

"My biggest takeaway is the passion and dedication to teaching and learning shown by so many Nord Anglia teachers who offer workshops, alongside the innovative work being undertaken by the educational team. The opportunities to collaborate within such a varied programme of professional development is something that you would possibly not receive in a stand-alone school. Workshops on AI gave me greater insight into the challenges we face integrating it into our programmes, as we are always behind the times in this field, however it was also encouraging to see the progress made in utilising AI to improve and develop student learning experiences. Delving into how we can support SEN and EAL students through creating inclusive and adaptive learning materials, gave me confidence that AI can be a positive tool." (Quote from SLT)

Driving innovation in teaching and learning

Nord Anglia Education places continuous professional development at the heart of its strategy, ensuring educators have the tools and knowledge to enhance student learning. The conference explored AI in education, neurodiversity, inclusive leadership, and other key topics shaping the future of teaching.

The event also focused on Nord Anglia’s groundbreaking research into metacognition—helping students develop an awareness of their learning processes to improve problem-solving and critical thinking.

“Through leadership discussions at the conference, our academic teams explored how to apply Nord Anglia’s latest research on metacognition," said Rob Walls, Head of Middle East Schools at Nord Anglia. "By embedding metacognitive strategies in the classroom, we help students develop the skills to become independent, self-directed learners. In offering a forward-thinking education, we are supporting skills development with our Nord Anglia educational framework centred around the continuous growth of the 6 Cs—ensuring our students evolve into critical, creative, committed, and curious learners, while collaborating compassionately both in and outside the classroom."

Strengthening our global community

For The British School Yangon educators, the conference wasn’t just about professional development—it was also a chance to collaborate with peers from around the world and contribute to Nord Anglia’s global education community.

"Again, after attending this conference, I have built up a wider group of connections that I can turn to for support. The Jaws groups' are a great forum to compare some of the challenges we face within our local region, as well as formulating action plans based on our shared experiences. Having colleagues who are quickly available on WhatsApp to answer questions support why it is an advantage to work within an educational group. The more we collaborate, the more experienced we become in developing stronger and more impactful learning experiences for our students." (Quote from SLT)

The knowledge and strategies gained at the SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Conference 2025 will continue to shape learning experiences at The British School Yangon, ensuring that students benefit from the latest advancements in education.
