The new campus is being built to enhance the learning environments and facilities offered at The British School Yangon (BSY) and to accommodate the growing number of students. This is the first time BSY Early Years, Primary and Secondary students will all be located at the same campus and that there will be a Year 10 cohort. The school will continue to expand its provision each year so that by 2021 it will be offering both (I)GCSEs and A Levels/IB to prepare students for University and beyond.
The new campus is located in Taw Win Street, Mayangone, opposite Victoria Hospital, and will include a covered sports field, a 25 metre pool, a Primary and Secondary gymnasium and a climbing wall. The science department have three new state-of-the-art science labs and the arts programmes have a 500-seat theatre with specialist music, drama and art rooms. All year groups have extensive play facilities and outdoor spaces, and the latest technology features strongly throughout the school. There is also a new school cafeteria which overlooks the sports field and pool.
Headteacher, Paul Holyome, said “It is a very exciting time for our school as we expand into our first (I)GCSE year and a full secondary school in a few years time. It will be a beautiful campus and I am pleased that we will be able to offer the excellent facilities and unique learning spaces to match the outstanding teaching at BSY.
