We are firmly committed to our families at the British School Yangon.Since our update in April, we have been preparing for the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
At the heart of what we do is to ensure every child receives the highest possible standard of education, now and in the future.
Over the course of the coming weeks, we will be introducing you to our academic team (you can learn more here). This team of dedicated teachers is committed to providing the best possible learning experience for each child. The wealth of knowledge and expertise they bring into the classroom will engage, delight and challenge students of all ages. Further, they have access to the resources provided by Nord Anglia via Global Campus, are able to collaborate with colleagues from both BSY and our host campus Regents International School Pattaya and share best practice across a range of subjects through our education partners MIT, Juilliard and UNICEF.
Mrs Alison Fox officially took up the post of Principal on 1 August 2021. In the months prior, she was working with our Interim Principal, Michael Deveney, and the Senior Leadership Team, to ensure seamless continuity of education to the BSY community. You can read more about Mrs Fox here.
We do not know when the authorities in Myanmar will allow school campuses to re-open or grant permission for teachers to re-enter the country. We are monitoring the situation in Myanmar constantly. Until that happens, the BSY ‘Teaching Base’ at our school in Thailand, Regents International School Pattaya, is up and running smoothly. This is a dedicated space from which all our teachers operate. There are several practical benefits to our students of this BSY Teaching Base:
Our teachers are together, in one time zone, energized and at their best. They are excited to be together, planning and executing the best education for your child.
They are able to plan together, as well as collaborate with their colleagues at our sister school. And they will have access to the significant teaching resources that we have available in Thailand. This will bring considerable benefits to your children’s Virtual School Experience.
By locating our Teaching Base in Thailand, we can repatriate our staff to Yangon swiftly and ensure a quick and effective return to teaching on campus when that opportunity arises.
This is an exciting time for BSY, and we look forward to a successful year for all our students and families.
