I started teaching Geography in the UK in 1999, followed by roles within a state secondary school that included Assistant Head of Department, Form Tutor, Assistant Head of Year, Advanced Skills Teacher, and a senior leader as Whole School Literacy Manager. I left the UK in 2015 to work in Shanghai as Assistant Head, with responsibility for the pastoral care in the Secondary School.
I currently work in the Secondary Leadership Team as Deputy Head Pastoral, working closely with the academic team and Vice Principal to ensure all students feel welcome and their welfare supported; continuing to thrive in a happy and healthy environment whilst meeting the needs of every child to allow them to be the best version of themselves.
I thoroughly enjoy the daily interactions with children, when every single day we make a difference in someone’s life which goes far beyond the transfer of knowledge. There is a chance to guide and mentor a new generation, build relationships, collegiality, exercise creativity and lifelong learning.
